I have a p229 in 40, newer style rail frame. Can I buy a .40 or 9mm slide from the xchange series intended for the .22lr conversion guns and put it on my current frame and rock and roll? I noticed that sigs website lists the 40 xchange and "for 2step frame only". What is the difference? Will it work on a non 2 step frame?

My 229ST started out as a factory stock .40 S&W.

Since I don't like that caliber, I dropped in a Bar Sto 9mm barrel and bought eight 9mm mags.

Two years ago, I bought the .22 conversion kit.
All works well for range...
