First of all, if I am posting in the wrong forum, my apologies. I am looking for night sites for my G29SF. Not sure if this belongs here or on a different forum. Feel free to move if deemed necessary.Done with the disclaimer.

About two weeks before Thanksgiving, I placed an order (with a local dealer) for Trijicon HD night sites for my G29SF. As of today, the sites have not been delivered. No idea when they will be delivered. Basically, I am tired of waiting so I am now considering the Meprolights and the Ameriglo.

As far as I can tell, the Meprolights resemble the Glock night sites the most. Based on the information I have found on the web. I have a set of Meprolights in a G17. They have been there since 1994 and they still glow. A good thing.

Ameriglo offers many different flavors which include the Classic model, Operator model, Pro model, and the Pro Operator. Looking at their web site, it is difficult for me to determine the difference between all the different models. They are all available for the G29.

I was wondering who in this group would recommend the Meprolights and/or the Ameriglo, but also if somebody could explain the differences between all the Ameriglo models. A bit of a head scratcher for me.

Thanks in advance.

Just recieved my Big Dot night sights from Cabelas. Free shipping and competitve pricing. They landed 3 or 4 days after I ordered them. Honestly I havent' shot them yet but I think they are going to work out great. They were even packaged with the tools to swap it out yourself very easily.

I put Tru-Glo TFO on all my Glocks and LOVE them too! Great for my over 40 year old eyes with the extra light the fiber optics pick up in daytime light conditions. You really should see these in person!

+1000

I have them on my GLOCKs as well. The best $100 you can spend. Day or night they glow. In my house with just an overhead light you can see how bright they are.

Take care, Bob

I like my Heinie Straight Eight night sights, but have always wanted some TFOs. I heard some reports of the fiber optic tubes flying out, so I worried about their durability on a G29 being fed lots of serious ammo. But, I know Oceanbob shoots his guns, so maybe that was an isolated problem. I might try some.

The Glock night sights are made by Meprolight. The Trijicon vials are better to me. I have Glock night sights on my G21SF, and my Heinies have Trijicon vials. The Trijicon vials supposedly have sapphire lenses that make the tritium appear smaller, brighter, and crisper.

Ameriglo also makes great sights. It's a tough choice, but all of the above brands make good products. Whatever you do, cancel that order. A month is insane. Go to MidwayUSA or somewhere similar. You'll have them in 3 days. Well, maybe more because of Xmas.

A guy at the range was grouping 2" at 25 yards with a g17 and this JPoint4.

http://www.opticsplanet.net/jp-rifles-jpoint-4-moa-dot-sight.html

Pricey. Its spec says 5000g shock. It seemed ok with a g17 9mm. I wonder how it'd work with a 10mm recoil and shock.

The trouble I have with front sights is that they are all TOO BIG for targets at 25 yards. They'd just cover up most of the 8.5x11" sheet target. I can't shoot what I can't see.

That was a concern of mine as well when trying to decide XS Big Dots vs their normal front sight. However, after much mental mast I realized that I'm putting them on my SHTF "combat" G20 so I'll give up a little pinpoint accuracy at the range to be able to aquire my target quicker and have an easier aquisition on follow up shots.

With all that said, I ordered some TFO's to try on a G26 and see if I like them.

Thank you all for the great advice. Found an armorer about an hour away from home. He has many sights available for me to touch and see. Among them Trijicons, Meprolights, Heinies, and Ameriglos. I plan to stop by tomorrow and check them out. Between your advice and what I see tomorrow, I should be able to make a decision. Thanks again.
