Well, the drop-in barrel for G20SF is on its way, and I had a question for the 10 Ring:

Do you use the KKM exclusively for range/hunting? Or only when testing/firing max loads?

I guess that's two questions...

The only other aftermarket barrel experience I've had is with an LWD 40-9 conversion barrel, which I originally picked up for my G33. I've held off creating any hot loads with Blue Dot, 800X, and Longshot powders now until I get the KKM barrel. Everything else I've shot just seems like .40 S&W.

Thanks!

Once I got my KKM barrel, I placed my stock Glock barrel in a drawer and have never used it since.

I have not had any reliablility issues with my KKM barrels. Some say aftermarket barrels are more accurate, however I did not shoot with my stock Glock barrel long enough to gather any reliable data. Probably 99% of my improvement in accuracy is attributed to my own development and not the barrel.

They are just as reliable and better supported than the stock Glock barrel. I have no reason to go back to using stock.

Got my factory length KKM and sold my glock factory barrel, $90 was what I got for it used a bit, Then bought a second KKM that was 4.75" for my G-29, faster now...

Got KKM barrel for two reasons, to keep brass from bulging for more reloading life, and to get barrel extension beyond stock length.

Did you pay the extra to get the Lone Wolf logo engraved onto it? ;)

Thanks for the replies, guys. I think that I'll keep the stock barrel when I have to sell or trade it it in at a later date. I am pretty excited to start loading up some stuff hotter than a .40 for this. Everything I've shot so far has not been impressive.

ALB, the lone wolf guys engraved my conversion barrel for free! They must like me or something :)

That avatar of yours really looks like Altgeld Hall at U of I.

LWD gets people to pay extra for barrel WITHOUT logo or moved logo. Go figure.

I think LWD gets a bad rap for that friggin' logo. LWD could have the best barrel on the planet and I would still look to other offerings (if available) because of the logo. I don't mind logos in general, but that cartoon character just does not look professional.

And the whole "pay extra" game so the logo is hidden I really despise.

Full disclosure: I own two LWD barrels. One is for my G20 and the other is for my G29. Both chambered in 9x25 Dillon. LWD is the only one making that chambering. The LWD barrel I bought for my G20 is the basic 6". The barrel I bought for my G29, I paid to have the logo hidden.

It is Beaumont Tower on the campus of Michigan State.

I have been to Illinois a couple times for football games. Last time, we started at FireHaus which is block west of Altgeld Hall.

I intend to buy a G20 conversion and I'll make it a KKM instead of a Lone Wolf.

The new LWD logo is not as bad as the old Scooby Doo / Bart Simpson but no logo is still better.

Instead of paying for a blind-marked Lone Wolf, I'll spring the extra $25, go KKM and avoid the blind-mark game.

Not to mention KKM is American made.

Here it is getting ready to be shot at the range:

Here were the Glocks shot today: G34 Gen4, G20SF

I'm ready to start the higher-power loads now! I've got the following, and have been reading the load manuals, as well as the IMR/Hodgdon site for their load info:

800-X
Blue Dot
Longshot
PowerPistol

I haven't been able to find any AA #7 or #9 locally, but will keep trying. Those other powders should keep me busy. Here's what I've got in the projectile department:

Hornady XTP 155 gr, 180 gr
Nosler 135 gr

I think that I'll start up some mid-range loads to see how they turn out, then I'll go a bit hotter.

CCI and WLP primers, along with some new Starline brass to get things going should make for good baseline measurements.

Didn't really get to shoot too much 10mm today, because my hand was pretty much done after this:

A good friend regularly reminds me that, "pain purifies." My wife has a different philosophy, "No pain... no pain."

You will like they way that 800-X moves those Noslers. Blue Dot is good for 1400 fps in my G20 for the 155 XTPs and 1225 fps for the 180s. 800-x was a disaster for me with the 180s, but Longshot is nice. All of the preceding were with book data. I have no experience with power pistol.

#7 is nice. #9 is my favorite with Longshot gaining ground in the little bit that I have experimented with it. The down side to Longshot is that load data is scarce. Accurate #9 is the only powder that I know of that has book data that has a 200 gr projectile getting to 1200 fps.

You have a really nice assortment to get started with. I look forward to learning your results. Have fun.

Haha...thanks for that! I fixed the link on the original post.

I was also posting on some other forums for the Kimber Solo haters of the world, just to let them know that sometimes, people get stuff that works!
