Chrono data for Power Pistol, XTP's, and a stock G20, + factory ammo

Got a chrono for Christmas, and went and ran some of my reloads over it today. ALL of the below loads are OVER book max, some by nearly a full grain. All were shot out of a completely stock Glock 20.

The 155's were doing about what I thought they would be. NO signs of pressure, so I'm going to try 10.5gr next time. If I can get these to 1400fps, I'll be happy with them. Shouldn't be hard to do.

The 180's, I was expecting a little more from...atleast a solid 1300 fps. With that said, 1280 is plenty fast enough, and I'm not going to try to push them any harder. Getting a very slight smiley on about 1/3 of the brass, and slightly flattened primers. Nothing terrible, but enough where I don't want to push any harder.

A little disapointed in both 200gr loads. I would have sworn they'd have done atleast 1150 for the XTP's and 1200 for the FMJ's. Neither show any signs of pressure though, so I'll bump both up by .2 to .3 grain and see what happens. I'd like to get both close to 1200, but would be happy with 1175.

-Min - 1105 fps
-Max - 1126 fps
-Average - 1115 fps

200gr Hornady FMJ
-8.3gr PP
-1.26 OAL
-Min - 1119 fps
-Max - 1160 fps
-Average - 1135 fps

Chrono'd several factory rounds as well.

PMC 200gr FMJ averaged 1020 fps. Extremely consistant ammo. ES was 6 fps.

Blazer Aluminum 200gr, TMJ, averaged 928 fps.

Remington 180gr FMH averaged 1055 fps. ES was 5 fps.

Underwood 180gr JHP averaged 1300 fps. ES was fairly high though, at 137 fps.

Winchester 175gr Silvertips averaged 1161 fps. Not a suprise at all as I've seen plenty of other people chrono this stuff.

Norma 170gr JHP averaged 1218 fps. As highly as the original Norma loading is spoken of, I don't find this very impressive at all.

Norma 200gr FMJ. The biggest disapointment of the day! It averaged 1007 fps.

Friend of mine that's been shooting 10mm for ~25 years had a little bit of it that he bought 25ish years ago. Brought a few rounds of it to me to run across the chrono. :)

I would have give you some Georgia Arms 180 jhp to chronograph but I forgot I had some in the gun case.

Interesting: out of a Glock 20 (with over 4'' barrel) the Silvertips generated 524# KE, original Norma 170 JHP ~ 560# :eyebrow:

10.2 is close to max for 155gr. 10.0 for 165gr of Power Pistol is Alliant max. Curious where you found data for 155gr.
You might try 11.4 gr of Longshot will get over 1400 ft/ sec. but work up slowly.

Found my data in the Hornady manual, but I'm over Hornady's max. Hornady manual lists a max of 10.0 of Power Pistol for 155gr XTP's. I''m fairly sure 10.5 of PP will get me 1400 without any pressure signs. At 10.2, the brass doesn't look any different than low powered factory ammo (such as Remington or PMC).

I might try to push up to 1450, but that's as fast as I'd ever want to push it.

I may try blue dot eventually, but for now I'm sticking with power pistol mainly.

Tried some Longshot over the weekend, and did get the velocities I was looking for (1300 even with 180's, and 1200 with 200's), but getting some BIG smilies. So, I'm going to leave the 180's alone and be happy with 1280, and back the Longshot charge down a couple tenths and hope for 1175ish. I'd be completely happy with both then.
