Got an express mag at a good deal but it has the long hunting barrel on it so I am wanting to switch out the barrel and up the rounds. Who has the best prices on these modifications.

Aippi is your guy. He posts here frequently and you can find his name easily and send him a PM for prices and shipping. He's a certified Rem LEO armorer.

+1 for Aippi.

JD is your man. www.aiptactical.com (http://www.aiptactical.com)
Go to the website and start looking, or drooling.
JD knows more about the 870 than anyone I have ever talked with
about shotguns.
Click on accessory sales and you can see all the different barrels and
options he has.
If you are going with a 1 or 2 shot extension, I'd buy a Wilson.
You can get them in different configurations and with or without
a sling bracket. They are solid as they come.

Or just buy one from him off Gunbroker.com $112 shipped.

I tricked mine out years ago from stuff in Paladin Press. Midway has barrels and extensions.

Wherever you buy it, go with a real Remigton barrel and I agree with another poster about the Wilson extention, it's great and well priced.

Why the Wilson over the Remington LE?

Why the Wilson over the Remington LE?

The factory REM extensions are a 3 piece unit and if assembled incorrectly feed problems will ensue. They are also priced a little higher on average, than the Wilson extensions.

The Wilson extension is much nicer than OE.

And another +1 for JD.

The Wilson seems a lot heavier duty, it's a little shorter, but still adds two rounds. The Wilson was also much cheaper when I was buying an extention about 2 months ago. I could have shopped around, but for referance, through Brownell's, a OEM was like $110+, the Wilson was $45 with a spring and follower.

i'd suggest the Wilson (Scattergun Technologies) extension... and Aippi for the barrel. he may carry the extension as well.

I'm not a big shotgun guy, certainly no expert. I just have an 870 bedside budget bruiser. I have a Mossberg 18.5 barrel($125) and a Choate +4 mag extension($45).

Ideally, yes, go for the above mentioned goodies. But I can say, I've run a ton of 00 buck through this combo without any issues. Nice pattern, and cycles perfectly. So if you're building just a basic SG, not a bad way to go.

Switching topics to dimple removal, I used a 1/4" drill bit to drill them out then used a round file to debur the inside. Mine runs perfectly this way.

I bought a 870 Express with the vent rib barrel for hunting. I later bought a 20" slug barrel for hunting and a 18" bead sight 870P barrel for HD. Its a pretty versatile gun.

I was at my local Dunhams store yesterday and saw that they have the 18.5" cylinder barrels for $129.99. Pretty good deal.
