View Full Version : My 3 Caspian builds
I've got 3 Caspian builds going and am at the stage where I need to pick some sights. 2 will be carry guns in .45 and one will be a gamer gun in 9mm
I'll post some pics when I get to a computer

I like the 10-8 sights.......look forward to seeing a few pics!
These were left to me when my Uncle passed. He was a custom gunsmith and was working on these three projects for himself. They all have custom serial numbers which are sequential and include his initials. He and I were very close and I'm looking forward to seeing them completed.
One of them is at the gunsmith's now, being completed. I have all of the major parts except i need one barrel and some odds and ends. Also still trying to decide on finishes, since they are all carbon steel

Cool! Can't wait to see the finished products.
Thanks. I'm expecting the first one to be completed by February
I'll update this thread when I get more info or updates from my smith

They are going to be very nice, and a treasured set.
Sorry to hear of the loss.
I would be interested in hearing ya'lls opinions about finishes. My smith is telling me that they have to be blued because they are carbon steel. He asked me about military blued or standard blued. Can someone explain the difference and maybe post pics of examples?

A good blue job would be very attractive , but not practical.
a wonderfinish like Boron Carbide would be black and very tough ..
You also have teh variois nickle and hardchrome plating options. look up handgun finishes and do some rersearch.
A nice matte Hardchrome is hard to beat..
Very kool my friend:thumbsup:

They don't have to be blued. I'd look at Ion Bond, Cerakote or Black T.
Here are some pics of the dovetails being cut for the sights. Everything else is complete, except for the finish. It will be finished sometime next week if all stays on schedule

Nooooo, leave it in the bright and send it to Scott Springer at Springer precision to get it Ion Bonded. Check out his website. My Millennium Custom 6" Limited gun has an Ion Bond DLC coating and I couldn't be happier. I will try to get a picture on here, it used to be on MC's website, or check out the Springer site!
I have been looking at Caspian for my first build. Keep us posted!!!
Smith said the finish turned out great. He's gonna assemble it a test fire it this week. I'll post pics as soon as I get some

Very nice looking pieces. I really like the slide serrations- they remind me of the old Detonics Scoremaster, but vertical. Very cool.

Nice. I guess I would have done one in 10mm. They look like the end will make you happy.
