Comp-tac holsters might work for you. Too bad you don't want leather. I love my Simply Rugged Pancake holsters ... and I am a big guy as well!!

Raven Concealment…in my opinion they are the best kydex holsters made. But the downside is the 5 month wait…but worth it. or you may want to check out Colorado Holster...no wait with them. i have 2 ravens and 1 colorado on the way.

I use fobus paddle holsters too, work well. They are simple and cheap but durable, I'd recommend them to anybody starting out and just learning how to shoot and occasional carry, also work well as a trainer around the house to comfortably learn condition 1 carry. I also use mine for when im hunting too. Of course for a duty holster I wouldn't use it as I think Blackhawk makes a better duty holster with a lock to prevent another subject from taking your weapon during a struggle... It's all personal preference though

I also have a fobus paddle holster gl2. Originally bought if for my pk380 but also fits the glock 23. I'm big guy 5'10" 300lbs and wear it only open carry around the house. For 20 bucks you can't beat it! I wouldn't think it would be good for concealment it would show quit a bit. Just my expierence

Safariland, and a great price for used on E-bay. Put this in a search and take a look. I got one for my self and my son in law to use for an off duty holster. Once you learn to push back then lift up you'll be drawing as fast as Roy Rogers LOL. For $12.00 bucks and like new you just can't go wrong.

Aw, you say glock 23 this is not for you but maybe others will take a look. I'm sure they make one for the 23 though so I still recommend this holster.

If you carry concealed long enough, you will amass a drawer full of holsters as your wife amasses shoes. That said, just remember that holsters are like shoes, what fits me, may not fit you. That said, and with the concept that many of us buy and sell or hold onto multiple holsters, I recently had a discussion with a colleague on the value of buying less expensive holsters, like a fobus or Uncle Mike's to get the feel for the presentation and position etc. THEN when you are sure you lie it, spend the $$$ on a Comp Tac or Ravel Concealment. You can then pass the "Trainer" on to a friend faced with the same dilemma.

FWIW, I like the comp tac; strong and readily available with just about any option you could contrive.

Check out one of our own, Swinkster. His holsters are great. Delivery time is just over a week or so usually. I have been wearing one of the OWB holsters now for almost a year and have had no problems. Conceals very well, very well made.
I also second what Fasteddie says about accumulating holsters. When you find THE ONE, you will know it.

GLOCK SPORT/COMBAT!!!!!
Drawers full of holsters, both cheap and expensive and the S/C is my favorite OWB holster.
Wear inside or outside the belt depending on dress.

Cheap, holds close to body and retains well. What more could you want??????????

I have both large and small frame sizes but the large works great with the small frame pistols,

Another vote for the Glock Sport/Combat holster. After years of membership in the Holster of the Month Club I picked up a S/C holster for 15.00. I haven't bought another holster since. Fits all my 9's & 40's, from subcompact to full size. Hides Glocks real well without having to resort to going inside the waistband.

If they had a carbon fiber pattern, cost 150.00, and it took 6 months on a waiting list to get one, the S/C holster would get more respect.

Are some of you people carrying openly without any form of mechanical retention device? I don't consider a friction fitting method of retention any kind of security.

Just seems unsafe to me to not have something like the Safariland ALS or (gag) the Blackhawk SERPA.

Sorry to bump this thread. New to concealed carry (wisconsin) and will be concealing a glock 23. Have you fond it necessary to use a 85$ kydex belt also? Will a heavy duty leather belt work fine? The glock does have some heft fully loaded.

you don't have to use a kydex belt but it is always recommended to use a belt specific for carrying the weight of a gun, especially if you are carrying a g23. if you want a nice leather belt check out beltman or tt gunleather but they are going to run you about $100. the cost is worth it for your comfort and longevity, a nice leather belt from one of those guys will probably never have to be replaced. if you get leather, get it reinforced.

Will a heavy duty leather belt work fine?

i bought a double thickness, 1.5" wide leather belt at a gunshow, and that's been working for me carrying my g23 and also 17 or 31. think it was in the $50-60 range though, so not necessarily super cheap.

I got a Galco Triton TR226. Kydex about $30.
I carry 23,27,36 in it. I am not slim and it works for me.
I actually got it to hold me over until I I decide on CBST or Galco Kingtuk and like it so much I never got around to another. Also use Glock Sport Combat.
Both conceal G23 with a untucked shirt or jacket.

For my 23 I prefer the Crossbreed Supertuck iwb holster. It is very comfortable and the weight distribution is excellent. I am wearing this combo, as I type this and it is quite comfortable. I use the CBST for the 19 and 30SF, as well.

For an owb holster, I prefer the Safariland ALS set-up.

Both are worn with a Crossbreed 1-1/2" gun belt. A good gun belt is important. It makes a huge difference.

White Hat Holster, is what I got, and its so very comfortable, I also have a leather one being made from the American Holster Company, wont be done till prob end of march or so, but I cant wait for it to be made, on my whitehat holster I added some leather belt loops, instead of the metal clips, works great...

I have a few of his holsters and mag carriers - and they are top-notch. Each is custom made and ddamn-near perfect. And the longest I have waited is a mere week from order to belt. Dealing with Coldsteel is a joy and I highly recommend him to everyone.

FWIW I have no connection to him other than being a very satisfied customer.

I like Raven Concealment, but, yeah, the wait for holsters online is ridiculous. I've bought two holsters from them, but I bought them onsite at our local gun show, which the guys from Raven Concealment attend. If you order it there at the show, it only takes a day to get made.

As others have said, there are folks here on GT that will custom-make a holster for you with a much shorter wait time than Raven Concealment, or you might check around where you live, there's probably somebody nearby who makes holsters.

I have a Comptac MTAC(IWB) and a Comptac paddle holster(OWB) for my 19/23. I just ordered a Comptac Infidel for my P30 so once I try it out I will post a review. I have been looking at the Raven Phantom holster mainly for the modular factor but the wait is a little too long for me.

If only for around the house, then a good owb holster is all you need. Imight recommend a snap on or a paddle holster. Easy on and off, so you don'thave to un-belt to take the holster off every time you leave home.

Crossbreed is a good design, however, like all slide holsters, the muzzle ofthe gun is not fully covered. It works but not the best way to carry imho.

Hey, looking for a decent holster for my wife for concealed or open carry. I bought her a Glock 19 Gen 4 for home defense and carry while I'm deployed or TDY.
