View Full Version : HK Benelli with Remington Barrel?

I just handled a shotgun that appeared to be a HK 512 or early Benelli, but the barrel very clearly had Remington markings. Reciever was marked Heckler & Koch - Arlington followed by numbers on one side, with model info on the back (512M1 maybe?). Anyone know anything about this thing?

Considering I've handled an Arisaka 99 (originally 7.7mm) converted to .30-06 scoped and with a Remington safety added.........

Stranger things do exist. I've never heard of one like that, but it's not impossible.

The 512 was made for H&K by Franchi (which at the time was not owned by Benelli). It was made under contract for the German antiterrorist group GSG9 and about 340 contract overruns were imported into the US by H&K. Don't know much about it other than that but its a gas system--not inertia. As to seeing it with a Remington barrel? Who knows. Franchi may have made it so it would have some interchangeable parts with an 870 0r 1100.

This shotgun did not have any visible gas system that I could find. Maybe I will swing back by the shop and do a more thorough look over of it.
