1. Springfield Armory TRP (I know not that pricey, but I've got to work my way up! I have a Kimber Custom II and an RIA Tactical right now.)

After I have the Springfield then the Wilson Combat CQB will be coming my way!

I wouldn't consider a TRP as "cheap". Great gun. I love mine.

I currently have a Wilson Combat CQB on order. The options I chose pushed it just over 3K. I'd say that qualifies as "pricey" but from everything I've read about Wilson it should be worth it. Unfortunately, I'm also looking at a wait time of at least 8 months. I may pick up a Springfield Range Officer while I'm waiting. I'm still debating that. :whistling:

Thanks for sharing. I'll definitely be posting some pics when she finally arrives but I only placed my order in November so there's a still quite a long way to go. I see from your location that you're not that far away from Wilson Combat.

Rock River 1911 (Basic or Limited Match) or TGO1

*wake up, I'm dreaming, is that the fire alarm?

After selling a few somewhat-expensive 1911 45acp in 2011 that I could not bring myself to scratch, scrape and drop, I swore it'd be cosmetically ugly/plain work guns with beautiful triggers and internals from now on. Got those, but something keeps pulling me to the aforementioned 1911.

Maybe the most realistic is having Dean Barton build me a 1911. Relatively inexpensive at around $1500. And I may get poo pooed for this, but a black Smith & Wesson Performance Center 1911 (http://www.smith-wesson.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/Product4_750001_750051_764972_-1_757900_757896_757896_ProductDisplayErrorView_Y) is tempting - external extractor and all - as is a Dan Wesson Valor. Or maybe buying back the full rail bull barrel TRP.

Truthfully I see my collection of 1911 45 mags and springs collecting dust for 2012, it's going to be a 9mm year for me.

I had a PII 1.5 and a regular PII. Both fantastic! If you go with LB don't waste your money on the 1.5.

I'd choose based on customer service and after-sale warranty, if any. Springfield is hard to beat in this area.

I'd buy a new Valor instead of a PII, but that's just me not wanting to dance with the same girl twice.

I'd like to get a Valor too, as I've been extremely impressed with my other DW 1911's (CCO in .45 and Guardian in 9mm). I really want a 1.5" Baer SRP in hardchrome, but I just have a hard time justifying it, since I already have a TRS in NP3+. I'm sure it would take a Ransom Rest to tell a difference in accuracy, but it just feels good knowing that the gun is "guaranteed" to be able to do so. I know a Valor would cost me every bit a grand less, and I could put the extra money towards ammo, but a Valor just doesn't have the "cool factor" of the 1.5 hardchromed SRP. To tell you the truth, I'd really like to see a Valor on a Ransom Rest go up against a Baer 1.5 SRP on a Ransom Rest. I'm not saying that my DW 1911's are the most accurate 1911's I own, and they damn sure better not be,. But I am saying that they are 2 of my 1911's, especially the Guardian :wow:, that I shoot the best, out of all of my 1911's. :)

I don't think it's just semi custom 1911s doing that. I've been shocked a lot lately when I have price checked revolvers and bolt action rifles, too. Might just have something to do with the price of metals.

Same here. Except my definition of "cheap and tatty" is a worked over $630 Spartan.

The last pistol I purchased in 2011 was not a 1911 even though I was set to get another 45acp. Probably a 2010 or newer Valor. The 1911 accounted for about 75% of my 2011 purchases and "variety" crept in.

Ended up with a CZ SP01 Shadow and putting in a few Cajun Gun Works parts and a lot of elbow grease. Into it less than a STI Trojan, and am very, very happy. Grip feels pretty close to my 1911, even has a safety, and the SA is beyond words now: DA is 5# and the SA reset is short and crisp. It'll tie me over until that magical RRA 1911 lands in my lap.

As of today I'm still looking at that $1515 Valor in black. Just makes more sense than a $2500 RRA with no customer service to back it up should the need arise. I'm rambling. Sorry.

addendum: oh, crap, new black Valors are under $1500 now. Did something happen to the market?? Because the Valor quality didn't go down. Is this a sign I'm supposed to buy one??

I'd like to try a Guncrafter, but dunno if pricey 1911's really float my boat anymore...I spent the past few years acquiring a bagful, but I'm finding that I enjoy shooting my cheap, tatty, used Baer and my Valors, (and my Brownings and revolvers), more than my Browns/Valtro/RRA/Wilson/Nighthawk/Pro, so I'm starting to wonder why I have em.....Don't get me wrong, I love the 1911, but I'm finding that i'd rather shoot a variety of platforms rather than a very narrow variety within the one platform.

Two nib black valors on GB and Buds for 1495 and 1515.

The only Valors I've seen lately were priced at $1700

I'm in the middle of the purchase of a Sprinfield based Gunsite Service Piustol from a fellow Glock Talk member.

Falls into my "guns I never should have sold" dept. Bought it new for $800 traded it less than a week later for a G29.

Nice pistol you got there.

I thank you, sir.

I would have to say I haven't decided yet, but it is between.

1. Custom SVI Single Stack or a Volkmann Precision. George has one but it has a Rail. Looking for a non rail.

One thing that is holding me back from a new 1911 purchase is that I have been constantly thinking of getting a Perrazi MX8. But that is a whole different story.

So what should it be 1911 or Perrazi.

a Les Baer Boss with factory magwell would be a great IDPA CDP pistol :)

I bit more but I am looking at a standard non embellished model. So probably triple the price of a nice 1911
