I am looking for some prepping advice for a power outage situation for say 3-5 days, I have a 5k watt generator so i could run a couple space heaters and i have a natural gas stove so i can cook on the burners, other than that i am open for suggestions to keep the 3yo and 5yo from driving us crazy:wow:any prep ideas are welcome, thanks
Well--you've got backup power and heat. I'm assuming you've got adequate fuel, food, and water stocked as well. And lots of warm clothing, coats, gloves, hats, sleeping bags, blankets, etc.
Ice storms can be pretty nasty and challenging. As you are obviously aware, isolation, immobility, and loss of heat and grid power are chief issues.
Then you have that pesky extra sanity stretcher--young kids. Mmmm ... 3 and 5 years old? My suggestions: a portable, rechargeable DVD player, a couple of handheld games, kids' books, puzzles, board games, legos, etc. A small battery-powered digital TV would also be worthwhile. And obviously, battery chargers.
(Another ice-storm must-have: a chain saw to deal with downed trees and limbs.)
