i finally tried this combination, don't remember the charge(under max)
with 230gr jrn and holey toledo........300rds and i picked up all my brass about 3'-4' to my right in a nice little pile......out of my G21c.:wow::wow::wow:
Going to try it out of my G20 next with 165 jfp.....
both pistols are bone stock.
Everyone must use Power Pistol in my area. The Cabelas store and the local shop I use was out of it. Hopefully they get a shipment in today. Never used it before but if I like it I'm buying 4lbs. Calling around just to find powder sucks.

I go between Cabelas and Scheels for "need right now" stuff in my area....
also gets me out of the house for a bit
PP works great (230gr FMJ) out of my buddy's Mac-10 full auto.
Power Pistol is fine if you're trying to "impress" friends shooting at night. Huge fireball and BANG!

The UPS man dropped 8 pounds of this stuff off at my house yeterday. I am not finding load data for 230 grain Hornady XTP JHP's in my Hornady manual. Anyone have suggestions on a safe load?

Turns out the Hornady manual has data for it. :whistling:
Hornady 7 shows a max of 7.6 grains of Power Pistol with the 230 XTP loaded to 1.230" for 900 fps from their 5" 1911 test gun.
You can buy me a Mountain Dew later.

Wow, I will have to look again! I was tired last night and may have missed it. :embarassed: The powder was a late xmas gift form my wife...I usually research powders before buying them. Thanks for the info!

It might not be in the new manual. #7 is the only one I have close by. #8 is in the garage.
I can't help out with Power Pistol beyond that. Never used it.

OOPS!
Hornady changed their mind in the Eighth edition: Now the max for the 230 gr HP-XTP at 1.230" is 7.1 gr (900 fps). The starting load is 5.5 gr for 700 fps.
I wonder what happened?

Good catch. I still haven't consulted #8.
I did notice with #8 that they finally got realistic about Unique in .45 auto.
