View Full Version : Who makes the OEM Springfield magazines?
I have a ~2003 Springfield GI. I was wondering who makes the mags for this model.
I prefer the GI style 7rd mags and am about to order about 10 mags. This is a range only gun that sees limited use so I dont a high dollar mag, but want decent reliable mags for my money.

Yup. I have about 10 of them and they have all been flawless in each of my 1911's.

Good info thanks!
The used Loaded I bought came with ACT mags and they cause jams every time!
I have a couple of Metalform mags that have been great and I have two Wilson 47d's.
The only reason I wanted to know the OEM mag manufacturer is because on of the two mags that came with the gun dissected itself when the welds at the baseplate popped loose.
This is not a hard use gun, but I am wanting to start IDPA shoots and will use this and/or my P220 for the matches so I am stocking up on mags for both.
My pre 2K Loaded models came with marked ACT magazines made in Italy.
They were purchased new and both had the exact same magazines.
My 2010 made stainless GI came with a magazine that only had a patent number on the follower that traced back to Checkmate.

Interesting! My frame is marked 2007 so I guess they ARE the original mags. Have you had any issues at all with yours? I noticed the lip on one side of the mag is cracked but they both exhibit jams on occasion. Thanks.

I've seen them with no-name magazines that may have come in from Brazil with the rest of the gun.
Not that I recommend looking for such.

I have never had a single problem with any of the SA factory magazines.

Unfortunately, I can't say the same.

Not sure how it it happened since I bought them like that. Caveat emptor. :(
Try contacting Metalform.
They do stand behind their product.
