View Full Version : Underwood Ammo
Just wanted to share this ammo maker for those who may not know. He makes GS 357 sig ammo.

Anybody know what bullet they use?
I'd say that is probably the Montana Gold 125gr JHP for .357sig that MG came out with not that long ago. Not pointy like the 9mm 124gr JHP.
I would be cautious with the ammo because it looks like it is loaded to the upper end. With new brass loading to the max is not really an issue with good QC however they are using once fired fired brass. I think they would be better off backing down to around 1350fps.
It says brass jacketed. Only GS are brass jacketed.
Maybe not. cheaper than dirt has them and they look different.

Those do not look like Rem Golden Sabre bullets to me, not even close.

All the GS I've seen have spiral cuts...

I do not think they are MG. I sent them an email asking what bullets they are. Anyway, I see Remington is selling 357sig GS again, but only the bonded version.
I posted a pic here for a guy a while back who had a box of 9mm GS with straight cuts in the jacket. It looked like a flawed run of bullets to me. Every golden sabre bullet I've seen in .355" is supposed to have the spiral cuts.
Better pic here of .357sig GS ammo. Remington has been making limited runs from time to time.

I am not doubting you, but where do you see once fired brass?
"Underwood Ammo Remanufactured Ammunition is produced on the same production line as their newly manufactured ammunition and subject to the same testing and inspection procedures. The savings result from the use of previously fired brass. This ammunition is non-corrosive, in boxer primed, reloadable brass cases."
I took that as meaning once fired brass.
Got a response to my email and the are MG.
"James-
They are brass jacketed Montana Gold bullets.
We will be releasing a Gold Dot, hopefully within the next month.
Thanks!
Kevin"
Montana Gold makes a quality bullet however they have been known not to expand worth beans. In other words I would not use them for self defense. Good target ammo though.

I did not see Remanufactured Ammunition anywhere on their website. You would think they would have to say that. How do you know this is not their newly manufactured ammo. I am not defending them, I just did not see it.

Yeah, the bullet doesn't look like any of the Golden Saber I have.

The link provided by the OP has "remanufactured" in the text.

The owner Kevin is a member here. You can find him over on the 10 ring mostly.
