View Full Version : PMC Xtac or XM193F
Looking to purchase ammo, I have not tried the PMC X-TAC nor the Federal XM193F. Which one would you choose for plinking? Both are 55gr.
Don't have experience with either. Which can you get for the cheaper price??
Federal XM193F is the standard, I reload my .223 but use Federal XM193F as my baseline when comparing for accuracy and velocity..... Palmetto State has the best prices that I have found.
I have found 62 grain penetrator X-TAC shoots much more erratically than Federal XM855. I can usually hold 1 MOA with the federal, but the PMC is close to 2 MOA on the same day, with the same gun, and the same shooting conditions. I haven't chronographed the PMC so I am not sure how much of that is due to variance in velocity.
I like the federal 193. I've heard good things about the pmc x-tac though.
I ordered some IMI yesterday so we will see how that is.
Eta: I've shot many different lot numbers of xm193 without issues.
PMC has another name "Poorly Made Cartridge". It is usually slightly cheaper than Federal XM193, but the only thing it is good for is testing to see that your rifle works with garbage ammo.
I shoot 193 pretty much exclusively at the range. Never had a problem with it and accurate enough for my needs. Cheap too, relatively speaking.
