STAND UP AND BE COUNTED!!!! IF YOU LOVE THAT .45ACP SNOUT AT THE END OF ONE OF ONE OF YOUR FAVORITE CCW's.... Let's Hear IT! :wavey:

There's just something comforting about carrying 11rounds of .45 in a platform similar in size to Glock 19... Yeah I know the G38 is closer, but it shoots a wildcat round. :tongueout::upeyes:

Nah... Just kidding... I have love for our GAP guys here as well...

The Glock 30 is a magical pistol and I shoot mine better than any other handgun I own. I added the Crimson Trace laser to mine, not so much because I like the laser but because I like the palm swell. Every shooter should own a Glock 30.

Best little .45 you could ask for. Since I lost some weight, I can carry IWB or OWB in my Fobus Roto. A small frame .45 that goes bag every time. You don't always get that with a chopped 1911 for often triple the price of a 30. I went with a 3.5# trigger and hope sometime toget the grip reduced as I have wrather small hands.

The gun is reliable as a brick and more acurate than you can shoot it.

Yes, the Blue Label (how I got mine) comes with three of the "extended below the frame" magazines. I believe Glock thinks they will be used more, or maybe they just want the extra money for you to buy the flush fitting magazine, not sure.

If they send them with flush, everyone wants extended. If they send them with extended, everyone wants flush. If they send them with both, everyone is pissed they didn't get two of the one they wanted.

The grass is always greener.

Yup, I like this one a lot, especially at the range. I usually carry CCW with a 9-round magazine+13-round G21 mag:

http://i53.photobucket.com/albums/g64/Beanie-Bean/Glock/IMG_8355.jpg

Here is my range configuration for G30, using the 10-round magazine:

http://i53.photobucket.com/albums/g64/Beanie-Bean/Glock/IMG_7686.jpg

I'm using Speer Gold Dot LE short barrel ammo in it for carrying, and it eats whatever ammo I feed it at the range. I'm seriously considering an aftermarket barrel so that I can shoot some lead through it, too.

I carried a G23 initially considered losing 3 rds with the G30, then I woke up - 10 rds of .45 +P beats 13 rds of .40

And here is a question: I have a G30sf (short frame) - can I drop in a G29 barrel and use a G29 magazine and turn it into a 10mm?
Do I need to use G29sf magazine? Or is there such a thing?

Thanks for any info on this.

You need a .45-10mm conversion barrel from kkm or storm lake - you cant just drop in a stock G29 barrel.

SF mags are not different from standard frame mags - so a standard G29 mag will fit.

Was going to do the samething but the way it turns out I got tired of my tin of pocket change I had been saving sitting on my dresser so cashed it in came out enough for my new g29 :-) picked it up yesterday. Wanted to get a taste of this 10mm power I keep hearing about.

Thanks to all for the info - and good info on the KKM/Storm conversion.
I also read that a problem arose having something to do with throat tolerances and other specification differences in the slide/receiver?
Any comments on this?

I looked at KKM and they say it needs another extractor - I think that is what I was trying to remember.
Actually, I had a G29 that was stippled and customized (not by me), which I didn't much like, and I swapped it for my G30sf which also fit my hand better.
I was just trying to go 10mm on the cheap - I should know better and my word of advice for the day is NEVER sell your Glock unless it's for another one. :crying:

Anyone else using G21 mags w/ the A&G extension sleeves on their G30?

I prefer this set up at the range and for HD purposes, makes for a very comfortable grip ang gives you 13+1 capacity using an OE mag.
I go back to the stock 10 rounders w/ the Pierce finger extension for carry.

Love the 30. My primary carry. I'm a newbie here and name would have been 30Glock but was already taken. I put a tungsten guide rod and an extended slide release for kicks. 10 rounds of .45 plus the G21 clips; can't beat it.

Anyone else using G21 mags w/ the A&G extension sleeves on their G30?

I prefer this set up at the range and for HD purposes, makes for a very comfortable grip ang gives you 13+1 capacity using an OE mag.
I go back to the stock 10 rounders w/ the Pierce finger extension for carry.

http://www.glockmeister.com/AG-Grip-Extension-for-G20_21-Mags-in-G29_30-Mags/productinfo/AGEXT2021/

I bought two of those extensions and they work fine. I took them off and bought a G21 to accompany my G30.

Hello Group.
New to GT but not Glocks. Own all but 380 and gap. Just purchased a G 30SF. It had a trigger pull so hard that I thought I would break off the trigger. Since I do some Glock updates/repairs for the locals and myself, I disassembled and checked for trash etc. Reassembled and amazing -- feels like standard factory pull. Can't figure out what changed but I am happy now. Any ideas? Also does anybody get ten rounds in a 10 rnd mag and get it to lock up in the mag well?
Love big bore pistols.

My new 30sf has the same problems with the 10 rd mags. You realy have to push them in to get it to catch. Getting that 10th rd in the mags was tuff at first but they are getting better the more I shoot them. Racking that first rd in on a full mag is hard. It should get better after a 1000 rds.
It still my new favorite Glock.

Thanks for the replies. Also noticed the recoil spring has a new style end cap on the breech block end. A stamped disc riveted on the small shaft. I find the slide sticking a little when trying to remove it and after checking found the disc slightly bent off the perpendicular from the shaft allowing the spring assembly to slide towards the frame causing the binding. A friend just bought a used G30 which has the solid end which does not bend so easy. Are others seeing this? I plan to change this as soon as I can find one in stock

Still carry my 19 or 26, but just bought a used 30 before the holidays. Accurate as all get out. Once I get more comfortable with its reliability I plan on making it my primary EDC. That will require a couple of hundred more rounds, which I plan to get done in the next few weeks.

Yes! At first I was not sure about the thickness of it, but the more I hold it the more I prefer it to the smaller grip frames. I have smaller hands and I find it fits my hands perfectly!

I was also leary of the larger grip and thickness. But, after I purchased one and started routinely shooting it; I found the larger grip fits my "old" hands, perhaps better than my faithful G36. After I complete my break in - reliability testing I'm going to try it as my primary CC unit.

I've grown to be really surprised at how my G30SF has grown on me as an EDC gun. When I first got it, i liked it, but it felt like a brick when carrying (shape, not weight).

I'm pretty new to carrying, only the past 12 - 15 months. When I first started carrying, even my G26 felt awkwardly large. Over the months, learning by trial about holsters, belts, positioning, how to dress, and just getting used to carrying- what's comfortable, what conceals well - the G30SF is now my main carry Glock. I'm a large guy, and the G30SF now kind of just disappears on me. Strange for such a wide gun. The stubbiness seems to keep it in one place, and nothing about it's profile sticks out, or digs into me anywhere.

My CCO 1911 is as thin as a sheet of paper compared to the G30SF, but both carry better than anything I've tried. And I shoot both better than anything I've tried. I like my G19 too (almost identical in size to the G30SF, except for width), so I seem to gravitate to that size gun.

I bought a G30sf as a 45th birthday present to myself ...can hardly wait until I turn 50! I also have a G27 Gen4 that I alternate for carry as well. Indiana doesn't require CC (though, you may if you wish), so I OC either the G27 or G30 in a BH Serpa retention holster. I've also got a Crossbreed IWB for the G30 and a Galco Ankle Glove (incredibly comfortable) for the G27 when I do wish to CC.

Besides both these firearms being Glocks, they both have the same carry capacity as well; two the G27 factory mags have a Pierce +1 floor plates, I left one as a 9-round mag, which works a little better with the Galco on my ankle. Additionally, I have a 9-round flush fitting mag for the G30 ...and, both Glocks use 13 round mags for spares. Twenty-four rounds of either .40 S&W or 45 ACP ...cool beans!

I enjoy shooting both, but the G30 is such a soft-shooter; it makes me wonder why the 9mm crowd complains about recoil all the time! :dunno:

G30SF is my first Glock. Only have about 75 rounds through it so it's not in the rotation yet. But I do like it. A little chunkier than my Walther P99c but 10+1 of .45 is a lot more comforting than 10+1 of 9mm.

Picked up my first Glock about 6 months ago and fell in love with the G30 the second I held it in my hand. I think it's the most comfortable handgun out there.
Maybe someone can clear something up for me though, what's the differences in the G30 and the G30SF? Mine doesn't have the SF stamp on the side, but it has the 3.6" barrel. Any help would be appreciated!

AFAIK, the SF (short frame) has a contoured, less blocky backstrap that provides a better grip for smaller hands. The idea is that the trigger is easier to reach for people with smaller hands.

Now I have pretty big hands, not huge but definitely not small, and I find the 30SF to be very comfortable. I did put the pearce pinky extensions on all my magazines though .

I think that barrels on all G30's are 3.78". At least according to the Glock website.

There's just something comforting about carrying 11rounds of .45 in a platform similar in size to Glock 19... Yeah I know the G38 is closer, but it shoots a wildcat round. :tongueout::upeyes:

My G30 was my first Glock. I purchased it new, left it stock except added night sights and use it as my cold weather ccw gun. I was so impressed with the simplicity and reliability of the Glock design I added a G27 for warmer season concealed carry and the G20 is my backwoods sidearm. I would snach up a desert tan or OD G30 if I could find one. Curious to see if the new G30S Gen4 will get the fond accolades as its fatter brother. The Gen 4 guns had so many issues that I hope Glock figured it out before launching another dissapointment.

It may be a long wait for a G30S Gen4. The recently announced G30S is a Gen3 pistol. The G30S frame is a Gen3 G30SF frame with a G36 slide and barrel. Barrels for a G30 or G30SF, including aftermarket barrels, are not interchangeable with a G30S barrel.

On the other hand, reports from Gen4 G30 owners have been very encouraging thus far. We have ordered Gen4 G30 pistols to upgrade two G30SF pistols in our household. The G30SF pistols are going to family members eager to get them.

Getting my G30 on Friday - went shootin' with a good bud today - shot his G27, 30 & 36...my first time shootin' smaller framed Glocks...on ALL of 'em I experienced a slide lock after the first few rounds...had no idea why except for a poor grip...took a couple of shots to get used to a grip that didn't cause slide lock...I guess the more I shoot the more familiar I'll become with a proper grip, but I've NEVER had that problem with ANY OTHER semi before!!! I STILL have NO IDEA what I did wrong I certainly don't think I was bumping the slide stop...has anyone else had this experience???
