Just thought you might like a look at the new p938. The P238's big brother.

I picked this link up from another forum.

I wonder why SIG finds it so necessary to offer uglified versions of their guns?

If they run they'll be a great option for those that want a really small single action 9mm.

I've often wondered the same thing. I'm a fan of sig but it seems lately it's more about marketing. The p220, p229 and several others are favorites of mine but I don't need a rhinestone encrusted slide and a naked lady on the grip.

I like it.

I'd like that a lot if it were DAO, or even SA/DA.........

Single action for ccw just doesn't make a lot of sense to me, considering the other options available.

(I understand there are fans of the 1911, P238 for carry on here......but, that's my opinion applied to my own definitions of what makes a great ccw gun.)

Plenty of options out there for DAO, SA/DA carry pieces. IMO, there are less SAO options out there for small, concealable handguns in .380 and 9mm.

I was happy to see the Solo produced since it's a C'd & L'd SAO carry gun. It's only slightly bigger then the P238 and I find it a perfect summer carry piece. I'm really looking forward to the 938 showing up on shelves. My P238 is the best shooting pocket .380 I've owned and If the 938 shoots and feels as good as the 238, I'll defiantly buy one. Hopfully someone does a good booth review stating the dimensions with some shots of the internals and magazine.

ETA: Never mind, Sig already has the specs on their website: http://www.sigsauer.com/CatalogProductDetails/p938-blackwood.aspx (http://www.sigsauer.com/CatalogProductDetails/p938-blackwood.aspx)

After comparing the dimensions to the Solo, they seem to be exactly the same minus the shorter slide length due to the slightly shorter Solo barrel. Not sure why Sig put the weight as 16oz without a mag considering your going to have a mag in the gun no matter what. I predict the 938 will probably be around the same street price as the Solo when it was first introduced which was about $650. As long as they can keep up production like they have with the P238, the people that are clamoring for a Solo will be looking at this instead. Considering the similarities, it may not replace my Solo but it will easily be a strong contender against other small 9mm carry guns.

I think it's interesting that Sig developed a SA micro 9mm, bucking the trend in these CCW guns. I'm not interested because I like the short reset DAO pistols, but still it seems the 911 people would take to it easily if they had a mind to carry something other than .45ACP, Hi-Power, or similar design.

Looks very interesting, but why is the front sight in that first pic a mile long?

+1. I absolutely love the look of black or stainless Sigs. All the Extreme Liquid Metal Rainbow Pink stuff is off to me.

MSRP around $850... I'll stick with my cheap PF9.

I like the way it looks, but I would prefer to carry something with the hammer down.

Ever since I sold my STAR M-43, single stack 9mm, I've been looking for a sub compact SAO 9mm that didn't weight as much as a brick.

i like the feel of the 238 a lot for how small it is so i assume i would like the 938 also. i would probably buy this gun to pocket carry but i really wouldnt like having a cocked and locked pistol in my pocket. i dont actually have a real reason why i dont like it, i just dont. i would be worried about clicking off the safety and ending up like Tex Grebner.

edit. i would prefer it if it was DA/SA

Street price will most likely be $650 to $700.00.

wow, i really want that. i just picked up a sig p238 and i love it. may have to sell it and get that. i trust .380, but if i could have a 9mm for the same size and quality feel that would be awesome. plus i could get more range time with the 9mm.

A cocked hammer has way too much snagging potential for pocket carry.

Wow. THAT was my first thought. I use to like how Sig guns looked... Now, I'm thinking they've got some designers who need a 'talking to' regarding their 'design taste.'

I like the look and size of the 938. Rainbows and pink grips aside. I make it a rule however not to buy a car or gun during it's first year of production. I want to hear from new owners about reliability after they have been around a while. I also wonder about recoil. Not a poly gun but still pretty small.

Yep, I am THAT guy. Had my Solo on order for 9months...never came in. Holding out for a P938.

I was lucky enough to get a Solo when they where first introduced at a LGS. I got it for around $650 OTD. The Solo is smaller then the 938 in length but identical in every other dimension. Considering how much I like my P238, if I didn't have a totally reliable Solo that shoots very well, the P938 would be my next gun to buy guaranteed after initial reviews.

I also wonder about recoil. Not a poly gun but still pretty small. This would be my only concern. My Solo was a little whippy in the hand until I added a Wilson Combat 1911 front strap that I cut down to fit. I can't wait to see a P938 on my LGS shelf but I think I'm going to hold off on buying one until reviews of the recoil and reliability come out.

The MSRP on the P238 is almost $700 but you can find them for $450-$500 all day. I'm figuring the P938 should see a street price of $600-$650.

Definitely gonna get a couple. Still may even buy the Kimber for giggles.

Looking at the specs. It appears the SIG is longer, and thicker than your Solo.
I really think I might want to get a Solo, but, so far, haven't been able to find any locally to fondle.

Yea, they really need to get on the ball with the Solo production. The CDP models where introduced and they have been showing up on Gunbroker. Most don't want to bother with it because of the price gouging by most sellers online and in local shops. I got mine in less then a week of being introduced. I called around and one single shop an hour away had one in stock that they just received that day. I told them to hold it since I'd be there in a flash to snatch it up. I picked it up for the reasonable price of $650 OTD. If I didn't luck out, I wouldn't touch one for the prices I've seen.

The P938 seems to be the same width as the P238. If this is true, the Solo is a tad thicker then the P938. The Solo could easily be carried in a pocket but I choose to carry it IWB during the summer. Many think a C'd and L'd pocket gun is dangerous but it's no more so then a DAO model. If you use a pocket holster (which you should no matter if its SAO,DAO or DA/SA) the trigger is covered and there is nothing to flick the safeties off.

What is up with the front sight up in the air and a gap between it and the slide?

Seems to me that it might snag or bend or something, especially the long one.
