View Full Version : I can't believe it's so difficult to spend $2500?
I can't find anyone who has any of the following:
GI No Name
TRS or UTC w/1.5
SA PRO(I know good look w/this one)
CQB
I've called drc1911, Crazy John, GI, Gun Slingers and a few others that I can't remember off the top of my head.
Who knew it would be so hard to find one?
You tried the online auctions?

I have and found some Baers and Wilsons but dind't really find any that didn't seem to be at least a little over priced.

Lot of money for something that's not truly personalized.

It's all about what you want to spend your money on. Some people buy expensive golf clubs or a $2500 dollar Gibson Les Paul to play in thier bed rooms. Others want to buy an awesome 1911.

Its only 20 weeks. It could be much worse. I've been on a list for a Pro for 14 months now I think, with no end in sight.

Hell I waited that long for my Milt Sparks stuff! Order now and he'll get both around the same time!

I have. They do have sub $2600 CQB in stock but I think I've talked my self out of a Wilson as of now.
Thanks for asking.
Last week my LGS had a TRS & a couple CQB's. PM me for info.

Tried to but when I click on your name it doesn't give me any options. That's the only way I know how to PM.

Sometimes you got to wait for the gun you really want. Trust me, it's well worth the wait.

Yeah, I'm gonna get a quote for a NN w/flush cut reverse crown, mag well and flush cut slide stop. GI told me to expect about a 12 wk wait. That's not really that bad.
Get whatever the hell you want most. Its tough if you havent been able to handle/shoot many, but you cant go wrong with what you have listed. I can say i have owned a Baer (SRP and UTC) Wiilson (CQB) and STI (Trojan) and liked the Wilson the best.
Dont let a few hundred bucks make the choice for you. This is a gun that will outlast you! You cant go wrong, but dont pick one because it is a couple hundred cheaper, IMO.

Order what you want, and wait.
I'm at the point where the things I really want are expensive and hard to find. A wait of 1-6 months has become part of the normal routine for me. Heck, I ordered my Surefire 7.62 suppressor 9 months ago, and the paperwork is still processing. No regrets though. I'd rather wait for what I really want than try to be happy with "good enough and convenient".

You're not gonna get it any faster than from Dave.

I am guessing (and I am most likely wrong ) that he is saying buying one from a shop is not as nice as ordering one just the way you want it. In other words ordering from Wilson with the exact details of the 1911 determined by the buyer is much nicer than buying one off the shelf that has been "pre-made" for lack of a better term.
I know I have ordered 2 (Brown & Wilson) with my wish list and bought 2 (both Wilson) off the shelf pre-made.
I really do not have much of a preference between them but I can certainly see how someone would.
I did notice what the OP was saying, very few to none of the $2500 1911s in their normal places on the net or locally lately. Guess the economy is better :)

12 weeks? That's easy time...I would do that and not think twice about it...
I bet as soon as you place the order you'll find something in stock that you want and will end up with both...even better

While there may be some personal pride in having a gun built to your wants & needs. However, to claim that a Wilson built specifically for you is nicer than a Wilson built to be sold off the shelf...that's just crazy talk. Doesn't Wilson Combat build all the guns to their highest standards?
A CQB built for you is going to be the same as a CQB built for off-the-shelf.

True no difference in quality at all. I think that if a person is going to save up and buy 1 Wilson, NH, Brown etc it might make more sense for them to order one with the exact details they want as opposed to buying one off the shelf. The exact trigger, frame color, grips, sights etc. Like I said I have done it both ways and either results is a great gun. The ones I ordered do have features I prefer more than the ones I bought off the shelf, sights, finish for example. Really can not go wrong either way IMO.

I did. He didn't have any of the Baers I'm looking for with the 1.5. I probably shouldn't get a TRS for SD/HD with the 1.5?

I don't know what it is about knowing that somehting can preform beyond normal capabilities that makes me want it. Though I'm sure the standard Baers are extremely accurate!

I know what you mean. My next Baer will be a 1.5" TRS. Will I shoot it better than my TRS? I doubt it, but I'll "know" that it's a great shooter.

Fair enough. I have two 1911s with a 1.5" at 50 yard guarantee and love both of them.

So you can find the one you want, TR, from CJ in stock but no 1.5 and in blue?
Buy it, shoot the hell out of it for 1k, then send it to say alchemy for subtle changes and touch ups to Baers stock config, then add your favorite black finish.
Less than $400
You'll have a one of a kind pistol exactly like you want it.
