I have wanted a CZ for a long time, I finally have one now. I am really impressed with the way this gun feels. I haven't had a chance to shoot it, but it seems extremely well made. I can't wait to try it out.

The CZ 75 is one of my all time favorite handguns.
You will enjoy shooting it as the recoil is low and the accuracy is usually very good!

You just bought one of the finest pistols in it's price range and more.
That gun is built like a tank. The way the parts fit together is nothing short of magnificent. If I had to sell my guns off that gun would be the last one to go.

Congratulations. I think you will like the gun.

I wasn't especially looking for a CZ, I just wanted a 40 S&W pistol. I bought the CZ in the 40P version because I had a lot of 40 S&W ammo.
http://i1183.photobucket.com/albums/x464/Bell-helicopter-407/CZ40PTLR2.jpg

When I got home I ran a couple magazines through it. I thought, The gun really points naturally for me.
So I tried shooting it with my eyes closed. Sure enough it points good (for me).

I like the gun and it's so reliable I use it for a nightstand gun now.

Congratulations. I have a CZ 75B 9mm which I love. I can shoot it all day without any problems with the gun. The only problem is that 9mm ammo can get expensive so I just bought the Kadet conversion adapter so I can shoot .22LR out of the same gun for a lot less money. Looking forward to trying that out in a few weeks.

When I get around to getting another CZ, that will be it. I love my CZs that that I have. And I've carried one as well. But I find I much prefer a DA/SA type gun to a C/L kinda gun.

Here's my occasional carry 75.
It's an old pre-b made in 1992. It was an old Czech police gun I had refinished in an OD.

I have a lot of pistols. I have owned 8 glocks and have 3 (17,19,26) right now. I also own 3 Sigs, 1911's etc. I have a very broad knowledge of all pistols. That said I can say without a doubt that the CZ 75 series of pistols is the best all around 9mm at any price on the face of the earth. I have a CZ 85 Combat that had fully customized by CZ Customs. It is without a doubt the best handgun that has ever touched my hands! I highly recommend any type of work you can afford to have done by CZ customs to improve perfection. If you don't change anything at all on it, it is still the best production 9mm made. I can't recommend enough getting a trigger job done as well as installing some VZ10 grips. Just those two things done, IMO, you will probably own the best handgun that you have ever fired. You can't go wrong either way. I love my Glocks, Sigs, H&K's, and 1911's, but I was shown the light when I got into CZ's. Not too long from now I guarentee that you will totally agree with me. I wish I would have known about them a lot earlier than I did. Congratulations!

There are lots of excellent guns out there, and the CZ75 series and decent clones are on par with that standard. Considering this is GLOCKtalk, the praises above should give you an idea on how good the CZ75 platform is.

In a country where most gun owners are limited to one gun, I have bought three CZ75s. My current CCW and IPSC collection as shown in my avatar:

My favorite CZ grips are the factory cocobolo types - handsome, thin, comfortable. I even prefer the factory plastic or rubber to the fancier, more expensive wood aftermarket makes I've tried on my Rami and various 75B's.

Are the mags interchangeable between the B and the original model?

That's a tricky and loaded question. Some may interchange with each other and some may not.. As well, some pre b 75s may take some of the currently made Mec Gars, but won't take others. When I bought my pre b 75s, I bought quite a few extra of the original mags. Those can be hard to find and expensive.

So the short answer is maybe. Since the transition from the non b to the b took several years and the firing pin block (the b) seems to have come last.

fnfalman
01-23-2012, 17:24
I asked because one of my good buddies brought the 75 back from Germany back in the days and he only had three mags for it. I wanted to get some extra for him, but didn't know if the current B mags will work. So, it's like Galil mags in Valmet rifles, you gotta try a bunch and see which one would work.

Sadly, pretty much. It's mainly in the shape of the mag well. That's exactly why I bought 8 or 9 extra ones when I had the chance. They were used well surplus mags, but all work flawlessly. So when I had the chance to grab a bunch at $20 a piece, I did. Got all those with the gun I had refinished in OD. The OD goes well with my other 75s.

CZ USA lists pre b mags from time to time. Though they're few and sell quickly. http://shop.cz-usa.com/P-11114/Cz-75-Preb-Full-Size-16-Round-9mm-Mag.aspx

The CZ75B is the only pistol besides the 1911 that I've ever felt like that when I picked it up it felt like a natural extension of my arm. I've owned Xd's, Glocks,Rugers, S&W's, but none quite have the natural feel and pointability of the CZ.

How is the trigger pull?

Mine has had some trigger work and comes with the copmetition hammer. DA is nice but long, SA is scary light with a VERY short reset. Shooots beautifully .

Though I have learned to not let inexperienced shooters try it because everytime it has doubled on them and don't wanna scare them off shooting. You ever seen someone's face when they mean to let 1 off and another lets off do to improper hold.

The CZ75 is a great pistol. Has a very comfortable grip, low bore axis and good SA. DA is a long reach for some and you might want to keep an eye on the slide stop as a lot of hot ammo will break them. They were very popular in IPSC until high capacity 1911s' started appearing.
