I was able to score this minty 10-7 skinny bbl a few days ago, very lightly used.
It's your basic, boring police six shooter .38sp....which happens to be a very effective combat handgun, serving Law Enforcement and Military for almost a century. I like them for how they shoot and handle.

Here with some of my other boring Police six-shooters;

http://img689.imageshack.us/img689/5610/model10skinny001.jpg

I used std pressure 158gr flat pointed fmj Magtech ammo, a watered down plinking load, chronos just over 800fps in guns like this.

I found the sights slightly easier to pick up with the higher profile front sight, recoil was mild even with the light barrel. It shot right to POA out to 20+ yrds, as expected, with 158gr being the load they are regulated for.

The trigger was typical S&W K frame, light and clean in SA and a smooth approx 11-12lb DA pull. Very easy to put a couple cylinders into a 3" cluster rapid fire at 21ft.

My dark clothed Bad Guy target was shot DA COM at 50ft, head shooting was 21ft rapid fire. Good.

Complete total satisfaction with this one, pretty much what I come to expect of a .38sp K frame. Gravitas.

Other than adding a Tyler insert, it's perfect.

Nice shooting Berto. A K frame smith is hard to beat.

I'm beginning to think you don't actually eat those peanut butter cups and Rolos.:tongueout:

You just reminded me that shooting is one of my favorite ways to overcome the winter blues...that slowly kicks in here. Wonderful gun and good shooting there. I don't know, but every time I can see model 10 listed for sale, I seriously have a very hard time to resist the urge of buying it. Again, it's my favorite handgun.

Two of the most accurate handguns that I ever owned were a S&W M13, 4" and a M27, 8 3/8". S&W does make some really great revolvers.

All great choices in K frames. I own a 10-5 and have started to carry it again after years of Glocks. Just a change, no problems with either one. Also have my bug: 442 w/ 110 gr Hydra Shocks. Going to polish up my basketweave "Bill Jordan" border style holster, and
belt, complete with 12 round ammo loops, and cuff case/ cuffs.(S&W # 100s).
Good luck and straight shooting!

THat's one thing I need to do...get a good carry rig for these guns.
Generally when I carry a belt gun, it's a 1911, but I could see toting one of the K frames with a good holster.

My first revolver was a model 10. One of the best ever made. That sure is a shooter you have there.

I have it's predecessor---the M&P Model 1905 4th change. Mine was made in 1941, and was owned by my grandfather. It's not fancy and "tacticool", but the lockwork is pure S&W smooth, and you can dump 6 rds on a target DA faster than you can believe.

They are amazing, and very often overlooked, handguns for self defense.

Those older smiths with the 'long action' were absolutely the smoothest DA shooters.

Congrats and good shooting. I was very interested as I have a 10-5 blue with a 5" barrel coming to me in a few days. Look forward to shooting it.

Is it an RCMP revolver by chance?

FWIW - I had a friend who was a retired Detroit PD Officer from the 50's thru the 70's. His duty gun (issued, IIRC?) was a 5" Model 10 .38 as well.
