I started a new ritual. Every January (birthday serves as reminder), I changed the recoil and firing pin springs on each of my 1911s that I shoot or carry frequently.

Checked to see it was resting comfortably.

I looked at it and thought:

"If this is what everyone says is an 'entry' level 1911 and I thoroughly enjoy shooting it, I'm not sure I want to shoot a 'premium' 1911. I'll go broke."

:D

Put it in a cold glove box, drove to work, worked, drove home, carried it in the house. All while we both exercised our 2A rights. Gotta love the USA!

Went to range, regulated sights. Came home, full disassembly. Stoned the sear and hammer hooks. Reassembled the gun. Got a very crisp trigger for my efforts.

Put it back in the safe. Good as new.

Took some white Testor's model paint to the black front sight. Tomorrow will paint the base white coat w/ florescent red.

You aren't shooting enough if it takes you a year. :tongueout:

I used and abused mine. Then I farted on it. Since its only 1 yrs old does that constitute statutory rape?

Took it outdoors for some exercise, before attending a range safety officer class. After getting home, cleaned and ready for the next trip.

Swapped the silly ass extended ambi safety for a proper thumb safety. Swapped out the stock Novak rear sight for a 10-8 higher rear sight to bring point of impact up. I must say that I do like the U-notch on the 10-8 sight, though I was fine with sight alignment & sight picture of the Novak rear sight. If the point of impact were fine, I wouldn't have swapped it out at all.

Not much, been busy with the GLOCKS. :whistling:

That being said, I did pick up a fiber optic front sight for the Baer, and another for the Springfield loaded. Will get installed sometime during the week. It's pop's bday, so the 1911s gonna hafta wait.
