I picked up something different for me today. I was out making my rounds at my favorite hang outs today and stumbled upon a full size M&P in 45acp. It just called for me to look at it. Upon closer inspection it is a 10rnd +1 gun with trijicon night sights. Felt really good in my hand and had a decent trigger pull. It is long but light so I can live with it. Originally I put the gun back and left the store.

On the way home I was thinking of the pistol and what I might have to trade for it. I came up with a Sig 1911 that just was just sitting in my vault doing absolutely nothing that I wondered several times why I even got it. When I went back the deal was done. The gun shop was more than happy with the trade I proposed and out the door I went. Took it to the range and played with it with 100 rounds of hollow point ammo. Nothing real serious just kick the can and so on. Kicked the can from about 20 feet to about 50 yards before it was all over.

Overall, I am happy with the gun. No issues of any sort with it at the range. No jams, accurate and such. Couple of more boxes of ammo out of it and it will definitely make my off duty line up if no issues pop up with it. Not that I am expecting any. I didn't take any picture of it today as the weather was raining, cool and really just crappy. I might try to get some up later but I am sure we all know what they look like so I am not going to sweat it too much.

My two M&Ps 40S&w and 9mm have been 100% reliable and you probably can expect the same.

Congrats. M&Ps are sweet shooters and very ergonomic.

I shot an M&P9 today at the range and it was awesome. I'm gonna have to get one.

Does it have a safety lever for condition 1 carry?

Does it have a safety lever for condition 1 carry?

Much like a Glock. Striker fired no external safety lever. Only external is on the trigger itself

You can get them with thumb safeties.

What in the world does SERPA bs have to do with the M&P45? To the OP, nice score. I've got a buddy with a .40 and it's a great gun.

I've shot mine without any problems, and use it as home defense also.
At our range, we have a steel silhouette at 100 yards, and I enjoy ringing the steel with it and never miss a target that size.
Groups well hot or cold, and runs flawlessly. I traded an M1 carbine, import marked, in Korean M2 stock, so was happy with my trade also.

That good to hear. I've been considering selling/trading my 19 for an M&P45. And not because I don't like the Glock, but because I want another .45, and those M&P have one of the best grips out there.

Glad to hear that you are satisfied with it. I am going to be issued the MP 45 this week, and have not been sure how I feel about it. Love the caliber, but am used to using glocks. Never fired an M&P

You'll like the choice of back strap, and 10 rounds of .45 is "plenty of firepower".

Ditto. 3 M&P's and all are great.

Especially in the ergonomics department M&P > Glock in .45ACP. I love mine.

I love my M&P 9. I've had 0 issues with it, even with Tula ammo.

I was thinking about buying an HK USP 45, but I might buy an M&P 45 and save a few hundred.

Congrats.

The M&P 45 is my favorite model from the M&P pistol line. I picked up one of the DE full-size models with thumb safeties back in '08. The choice of the thumb safeties was a last minute whim, mostly because I'm a long time 1911 owner & user, and I was curious. My next M&P was ordered without thumb safeties, to keep it more or less in accordance to my other plastic guns (Glocks & 99's).

My M&P 45 has been a great example, although the trigger was on the heavy end of the normal tolerance specifications when brand new. It lightened up and became quite smooth with use, though.

The smallest grip insert makes it feel rather like a 1911 with a small MSH in my hands, and the accuracy easily rivals that of my Colt XSE and SW1911SC.

I've been thinking about buying another one, this time the compact model (but I really need another safe and I have a hard time keeping all the guns I normally use for range sessions clean all the time, as it is. :whistling: ).

Like I need a 10th .45 pistol ...

I think S&W knocked one over the wall with the M&P 45.

It was sort of funny how a number of the other instructors ordered their own M&P 45's (in various configurations) after I bought mine. Some of them are 1911 owners/shooters, and some Glock owners/shooters, but they seem to find common ground when it comes to their appreciation of the M&P 45. The last instructor quickly retired his rather new G21SF to the safe once he got his medium-size M&P 45. ;)

I've handled, used and T&E'd a fair number of plastic .45's over the years. The M&P 45 was the first one which really made me want to spend my own money on one.

I have a full size M&P with the 4.5 inch barrel and thumb safeties. Love the grip, trigger and the accuracy. I may get a Compact one day for carry. Enjoy your M&P. I have read enough problems with the 9MM that I think the .45 is the best choice.

You have a very enjoyable to shoot pistol. It's my favorite of the line. APEX Tactical is an easy alternative to improve the trigger on the gun, versus use/cycling, etc.

I love my full size M&P 45. I just put another 100 rounds through it at the range today!

It feels good in the hand, shoots much better than the person holding it, is made in the US of A (unlike some other famous plastic gun), and goes boom every time the trigger is pulled (just like that other famous plastic gun).

In a wimsical moment I purchased a full size S&W M&P45. It has been totally reliab,e with 185 & 200 gr. LSWC, 185 to 230 gr. JHP, 230 gr. FMJ and 185 to 230 gr plated bullets. I was also impressed by my gun's accuracy - it punched nice tight 1.25 to 2 inch ten shot groups at 50 ft off a rest.

Thanks for the good input everyone. I put another 100 rounds through it at my buddies house last night. I am very quickly becoming very fond of this pistol. It feels great in the hand, has a good trigger, gets back on target quickly is accurate and like someone else mentioned it is made in the USA baby.
