Heres a couple pics of my new Ares Ranger Belt and my Wilderness Frequent Flyer CSM. I've been wearing the Ares for a week and love this belt. It's a little more involed putting on but stable as can be.

Side by side, You can see the double layer Ares is much thicker.

It's a Cobra style buckle. The two ends snap together. The two brass levers are to release it. I'll try to take some better pics of it tommorrow.

I love my ares belt. It was extremely stiff when I first got it which caused it to be uncomfortable. After the first few days, the super stiffness dissipated and I've been comfortable.

Personally, I do not like the ring buckled belts by Wilderness. I've got a Wilderness Instructor that has been through just about anything you can imagine (getting soaked, very very cold, etc..) and other than the velcro being pretty well thrashed (which doesn't matter, I have enough left over to loop through my jeans) it is as good as new.

I much prefer the older style Wilderness buckle.

That's not an old style buckle, it's the buckle that come's on the Instructors Belt. The ringed buckle shown is the Frequent Flyer model.
