S&W .22 LR model 17-8

Greetings Everyone,
I have been looking for a .22 LR revlover and ran across (pictures only) the model 17-8. I do not know much about this revolver except the obvious 10 shot, 6" barrel, rubber grips.

Does anyone own one of these? Do you like it? If I purchase one, is there anything (quirks) that one should be aware of?

Anyway, I would be grateful if someone could help me fill in the blanks.

I don't own one, but they're great rimfire revolvers.

I have the 617 6" barrel, is a nice .22

I can't see why there'd be anything wrong with it. Smith & Wesson makes a great 22 revolver.

Personally I prefer older ones, but if I couldn't find one, a newer one would do the job just as well.

Bringing back this thread from the dead.... but here we go... I have the blued 6 inch model. I sent it back to Smith because the extractor got chewed up and failed. Not Smith's fault, it was the fault of my brother and a pair of vice grips when breaking it down for cleaning. But that being said, it is a solid gun. It does need cleaned frequently due the nature of .22lr ammo being filthy. But it's the most fun you will have with your clothes on.

6 + months later and I still have not been able to locate a model 17-8. when I do actually find one, those folks are not interested in parting with it. This tells me quite a bit about this revolver - people just like em.
