View Full Version : What to do about a TRP?

I am looking to buy a TRP in black. I want a rail and fixed sights but the Novak fixed sight model only comes no rail, with a barrel bushing.

The one with a rail comes with adjustables, a rail and no bushing. SA says they will install Harrison fixed tritiums that fill the Bomar cut like the adjustables for $80.

Just want to know should I just do without the rail and get Novaks and a bushing or get the fixed Harrisons, a rail and settle for a conical bull barrel?

This will be my first 1911...go big or go home...:wavey:

Nothing wrong with a bull barrel :)

Just wasnt sure about the Harrison sights themselves, and no bushing. How does the bushing or lack thereof make a difference?

Anybody here used the Harrison sights?

Your all's affirmations are helping a lot. May look around for some other reviews on the Harrison sights.

Plus, nothing looks better than a flush crowned bull barrel. Here's just a few of mine...

Take a look at the new 10-8 before jumping on that Harrison. Should be out in a few months as rumor has it.

I love that look but it doesnt appear from photos that the TRP are crowned like that.

SA has the Harrison in stock and will install them for add them for 80 bucks the sight unistalled is 150.

That just seems easier to me.

Joe had those all custom done after the fact. Likely Chuck Rogers.

The Harrison is easier as the 10-8 isn't even available yet. It all comes down to whether or not you like the Harrison profile better than the 10-8 - and of course if you are willing to wait.

Good luck. The TRP is a great shooter.

Chuck Rogers did that work.

You could just add a Dawson Rail to the standard TRP.

No more Dawsons...

On a crowned barrel what is betetr to do overall a flush cu ot an angled cut. I get that it protects the rifling somewhat, but the jury seems to be out about whether it affects accuracy positively.

What say you all?
