I have a 'Colt conversion' that has Colt markings, but is not an 'Ace'... I believe because it has a floating chamber.
The 'Ace' is before my time, but I believe it will also have Colt markings, but not a floating chamber.
.
"Floating Chamber?"
Thanks for the reply.

Here's more on the variations:

The original blowback was anemic to operate the mass of a 45 slide (even lightened)
The floating chamber is an insert that holds the .22, but it's OD is around .32 caliber, so it gets the additional area for the gases to act on and an additional push on the slide.
.
But does it have to say "ACE" on the slide?

There have been conversion kits by other companies, but the 'ACE' and 'Service ACE' are Colts. (& apparently collector's items...) My conversion doesn't say 'ACE' but it does say 'Colt'.
.
Sorry, but I'm still confused. Does it HAVE to say "ACE" on the Slide to be an Ace conversion package?
