Saw on academys website last night. Over priced AR, but it is probebly ground breaking AR that can suppress itself, load and clean itself as well. On and go full auto when you want it to.

Now, I don't know much about these guns yet. So, please read the specs and interpret for me.

The Red Jacket Firearms KMP 5.56mm Semiautomatic Rifle features semiautomatic action with a 30-round magazine capacity. The rifle is designed with an M4 profile chrome-lined barrel, a polymer stock with an MOE pistol grip and fore-end and a hard chrome firing pin. The rifle is fully stress relieved and surface hardened, and the gas tube is ferritic nitrocarburized for heat and corrosion resistance.

Okay....I'll bite.....stress relieved and surface hardened? A massage and viagra tipped ammo? I for one have not dealt with corrosion in the gas tube.

I bet they will sell a ton; just not to me. They make quality Saiga conversions at a reasonable price but this is way overpriced, especially with all the quality AR makers out there now offering great quality ARs under $900.

I do not think the built quality seems that great. As most of the time these guys are just wasting time fighting and trying to improve the rating. I know all these shows are scripted.

I would stick with M&P Ar 15 for now cheap but i think decent quality.

Obviously we don't see the full shop on TV, and since they are selling through Academy I figured they were having them built by another maker with their logo on it... all over it!
I held one at the store yesterday. I was there to see if they had an M&P15 Sport in stock to look at in person. They didn't but did have this on hand. The counter guy hadn't even seen them before. He didn't know what it was.

Not that I would but, I can only imagine buying one of these. Anyone ever buy something from Academy? I picked up a Buckmark .22 for dirt cheap a few years back..... it's a heck of an experience. They literally escort you to the register, manager in tow. I don't even want to think what would happen with a trendy AR, their loss prevention would probably come out in full riot gear.

How about their "Katana" rifle... looks like a basic AR15 built with some of the components from a mixture of quality manufacturers.

But $1,850.00 ?!?!

I saw this episode, they made it for a guy that came in and said he wanted a "lightweight AR15." I was thinking- just buy a plain AR15 and don't attach a bunch of ***** to it and there you go.

For around a grand you can get a Colt 6920...why buy their sub standard rifle when the real deal is less money?

That is the route I am going....tired of looking at compromises and going to suck it up and buy the Colt and call it good.

Same here. Bought a BrCa awareness Buckmark for my wife for Christmas. got escorted to the register then out the door. The manager didn't hand me my gun until after I was outside. Nevermind the 1911 on my hip and 642 in my pocket.

There is an MC Sports in our local mall. The mall is a no gun zone as in none on the property. But this store sells firearms. They are on and exterior wall with the entrance in the mall. If you buy a gun you have to exit the mall and then go outside and pick up your new firearm at their service entrance. Then leave the mall parking lot. I have never bought anything but ammo there but wouldn't be surprised if the mall security didn't escort you off the property too.

Don't worry guys, I wasn't interested in this rifle, just hadn't seen anyone point it out yet.

There is a Colt MT6601 NIB locally for a grand. Says he's firm. What is the main difference between this and the 6720/6920 I keep seeing referenced?

zhix
02-22-2012, 12:13
The Colt 6601 is a 20" heavy barrel rifle, from what I'm seeing it is in a 'ban' configuration; 'compensator' rather than a real flash hider, no bayonet lug. A new one would cost around $1200.

The 6720 and 6920 are 16" barreled carbines, you can get one for as low as under $1000, and they stand to go up much more in value if/when there is another gun ban and/or people are in fear of one.

Wasnt it 6 grand plus bars of silver. Your telling me you wouldnt take silver bars for payment on a gun? Would you take 50 dollar bills or would they have to be just 20's?

it was only $300 of silver on top of 6k , even at market value that BAR was worth 2-3k more

Dear Lord, they're trying to sell based solely off brand recognition from the worst TV series in history.

I don't despise them for their success - but Lord I hope the kind of folks that enjoy and buy into their show don't actually go out and buy those guns.

In fact, that should be on the yellow sheet. Item 17 - do you watch that Red Jacket gun show?

If it's yes - DENIED!

This is all you need to know:

It's a basic carbine AR, probably filled with DPMS parts, with Magpul MOE furniture (including plasit sights!) and it's only priced $500 or so too high.

Saw an episode where they took a glock and put an "AR-15" style charging handle on a glock so a guy with MS could rack the slide. Cool, I'm glad they could help the guy. But the girl bugs me, comes off very arrogant with her self proclaimed "knowledge" and "abilities". She claimed Glock was the first polymer pistol...really...someone that smart should know better. HK VP70....12 years before Glock 17.

I too would pass on anything Red Jacket.

It is no more a machine gun than stamping "18" on a Glock slide makes it full auto.

No sear pin hole = no FA in the eyes of the ATF. Some companies put a FA position marking on the receiver for looks, and some do it because the lower is cut to accept a RDIAS (like the Spike's).
