A while back, someone posted about a mechanical (no batteries) push-button handgun safe. It was top-opening and when the top opened, it lifted the handgun to present it for drawing.
I can't find the original post. Can anyone remember the maker of this safe or where to find it?

I just got one for my 870 and I like it.
EDIT - I just reread your post, obviously this is not the same, it is mechanical but it does not lift the gun. Still a good option for you to consider perhaps.
I may get one for my glock but I am also considering this...

Those Simplex locks are great. I have two safes that use this lock. A Shotlock in my hall closet
