Anyone have a kit put together specifically for gaining access to or exit from somewhere during a SHTF/WROL?

I'm thinking that, if in a vehicle, and a road is chained off or something like that, a small pair of bolt cutters may come in handy. Maybe a hack saw, hatchet/axe, etc...

What are your thoughts? Anyone have one put together?

Thanks

Don't you watch movies? Just shoot the lock!

I have some stuff for vehicle access that I keep in my own vehicle. No tools for building access. Guess if I really needed in someplace I would just go for a window.

I'd guess a 4" cordless angle grinder would come in handy, like the Makita BGA452Z or the Milwaukee 2680-20. I haven't found anything that can stand up to an angle grinder.

A friend of mine had a very heavy duty gate to his remote property, which was constantly being defeated by guys just pulling it open with a winch.

I do carry a hatchet in the car, but I don't imagine it'd do much for chain or lock.

Yep.

You can get in a lot less trouble with an 870 loaded with slugs in the trunk than you would with a bolt cutters, which in some jurisdictions will get you charged with having burglary tools.

Not that you'd advertise what's in your trunk, but if a cop rolls up on you after being rear ended in a vehicle accident and the lid gets popped, or if you end up on the wrong end of a warrantless search, well, having a gun is fine if you're legal, but some areas only allow locksmiths to have bolt cutters in possession. YMMV.

ESEE-5, designed as a downed pilots survival knife, 1/4" for cutting through an aircraft if needed:

You're not gonna cut through much airframe with that toy.......

In my truck tool box, I've got a sledge, an axe, and a 36 inch pair of bolt cutters. If I can't get into something with those, I don't need to be getting in.

I've got a older RAT-5, its mostly a "meh" knife. Wouldn't buy another.

I agree on the ESEE. No clue where I even put it. Used it for heavy yard work....once....the thing sucked!

My Busse Boss Jack should be here Monday. Not much of a chopper but for everything else it'll be good I assume. Also I'm looking at their current offering, the Team Gemini Light Brigade Series....thing is badass any way you look at it...

I've got a solid pry bar, a Stanley Fubar Forcible Entry tool (http://www.stanleytools.com/default.asp?CATEGORY=FORCIBLE+ENTRY+TOOLS&TYPE=PRODUCT&PARTNUMBER=55-122&SDesc=Stanley%26%23174%3B+Fubar%26%23174%3B+Forcible+Entry+Tool+-+30%22), a 5' HiLift jack, and an assortment of cutting implements. I'd trade it all for a spool of explosives to achieve the same effect but with a lot less storage space.

For emergencies I keep a crowbar under the front seat of my car in case I have to pry open the trunk if it's encased in ice and snow.

This is not a bad idea at all. But, my thought would be that it's way down on the critical list, and simple tools/earlier in prepping might be just as practical: A few slug rounds and/or a decent hatchet/hammer or crowbar.

It doesn't have to be fancy...just work.

But explosives are sooo much louder :tongueout:

A FUBAR or similar, and a good sledge and maybe the HiLift and you're into just about anything with minimal fuss, and noise.

I bought an 'Official Jack Bauer SHTF Kit' on Ebay from a guy in Kenya. Haven't received it yet (must be delayed by customs) but I should have everything I would need when the SHTF.

That's the only thing I found when typing in Jack Bauer and Kit. What exactly is in the one you bought?

All the tools in the world are useless if you don't know how to use them.

I'm a carpenter by trade. I can get into and secure most anything. There's no one tool that works everywhere. Also SHTF methods might be a little more extreme than what I do as the things I open or secure typically have to go back into service in short order.

Earthquake? Tornado? car crash?

Yeah, I got some tools for such things. Useful long before WROL.
