"Normal people don't get Speer ammo" is a line from a popular crime novel published in '99. It goes on to quote the fictional LEO, "...your gun can't be a [POS] or the ... Thing will blow apart in your hand." They were discussing a gang known as the "one sixty fives" after the Gold Dot rounds they used exclusively in their "fo-tays".

Today many lawmen and civilians prefer that round over all others.

Was the author way off base for gun owner attitudes 13 years ago, was this just another example of "stinkin thinkin" from the liberal media, or have perceptions of HP ammo in general evolved over the past decade or so? Pat Cornwell has sold a lot of books touting good guys with guns.

I've also seen more recent rants against the Talon bullet.

(Sorry Mas, there WAS a question in there somewhere.)

Too many fiction writers and screenwriters don't do their homework...
