Picked up a new SP101 yesterday. Chose it over the KLCR .357. Will take it to the range over the coming weekend. I love this gun and I haven't shot it yet!

Happy, happy, happy!

Good score, I have 2, one being the CH model. Meprolight makes front night sights that are easy to install.

I love my SP101. Mine is .357 and has the 3 1/16 bbl.

I just handled a friend's 4" SP101 tonight, and decided it's next on the list. Actual sights, with fiber optic front mounted. Great balance. A little rough on the finish (never understood that about Rugers), but only cosmetic. If it's like my SP101, it will be another keeper.

My SP had dull finish in some areas. I took a dremel and Flitz and shined it up. Since it is the DAO version long range sessions rubbed my finger raw. I shaped the trigger to my liking. After that I put some light colored inserts in the grips and a Trijicon Sight up front. Its a daily carry and a gun I will always keep. I can't do pictures sorry.

The Rugers have rougher finishes and some cast marks, but the final finish of the crown, bore and chambers is at least as good as S&W IMO....I notice they clean up very quickly after shooting.
I like mine

Great catch. I enjoy my SP-101 seems like it's built like a tank. I bought one years ago and sold it when I was having problems with my stepson. I regretted that from day 1. I had a co-worker that wanted a Glock 19 and was willing to part with her revolver. I took her to get her Glock and she was totally happy. Later that day she sent a text with a picture of the revolver and asked would I give her $200. I was out the door within minutes. She said she had put about 20 rounds through it and realized it was too much gun. It has the 2 1/4 inch barrel on it. This one is here to stay.

Congrats. My wife has the same gun and loves it. Just put a Crimson Trace laser on it and she was a happy camper. Have fun with it, I do when she lets me shoot it.

Hey Gunny!! Great to see all is well after your unexpected hospital stay in Sept 2011. I see you are back on your feet - great news. Please send me the money for the double mag pouch you owe me for since Sept 2011 - as long as it doesn't interfere w/you recovery! Let me know if you need my address.... too bad you quite the 1911forum. I hope it wasn't over this lack of payment. I look forward to hearing from you!

When last home, I had a chance to handle the 4" SP101 again. It's got a very cheap, lightweight looking hammer assembly that isn't the same as the forged hammer on the SP101 that's presently in my safe.

I really like that 4" with it's better sights and balance, but that cheap hammer really put me off. Surely they can do better than that.

The checkering on the thumb spur was very dull, injection molded, without any bite or grip. The hammer is finished in a dull grey finish, not at all like the stainless remainder of the handgun.
