Not to hijack, but how are you liking that American Classic? Been contemplating picking up a 5" or commander.

Only have about 350 rounds through it, but it's been flawless so far with WWB 230gr JHP and FMJ, and PDX1 defensive ammo.

Even alternated live ammo and spent cases in several mags, fed all the empties just fine too. Very happy with it.

Oh Oh! I may have contribute to the delinquency of an Okie!

It is not real checkering but it is functional at a fraction of the price to send a frame out to be hand checkered.

You did good my friend.

Okie... How do you have it secured? Mine wants to rotate around during recoil.

I haven't shot it yet to see how it works. With the grip panels loosened I wrapped it around the frame put it between the frame and grip panels and centered it and tightened up the grip screws. I hope to shoot it tomorrow to see how it does.

Also helps to crimp the edges really tight with a flat head screw driver.

I just ordered one of these for my brothers RIA. What do you mean by crimping it?

The edges fold over the cutouts on the grip frame. The tighter you get those folds, the more securely they stay in place.

For those of you that are thinking about buying one, get it from Brownells. It's the same price through Wilson, but Wilson gets about 4 bucks more for shipping:supergrin:

Okie that looks nice!!! My frontstrap was actually checkered (for real) but I didn't like it (or the SUPER cheap thick smooth grips) so my RIA now wears a hogue finger groove grip! I bet ya couldn't knock that thing outta my hand with a Louisville Slugger!

It doesn't actually protrude into the magwell, just folds over the lip a little bit.

Well I shot my RO this afternoon, and that front strap checkering was a smashing success, my hand stuck to the frame like it was glued to it and the piece didn't move a bit. I give that a thumbs up for sure:thumbsup:
