Hi all. Need some advice or suggestion on a problem my Father is having trying to reload some .32 win spcl cases. They are once fired out of his model 94. He's using a single stage rcbs press and rcbs dies. the problem is after resizing the shoulder of the case seems to start too high on the neck of the case and the round will not chamber. about an 1/8th of an inch protrudes when you drop the reloaded case into the chamber. He followed the instructions to set up the dies as provided by rcbs and we both fiddled with some cases but we can't seem to get it just right. Side by side with a factory cartridge there is a noticeable difference where taper of the shoulder ends on the neck. He has about 20 years experience reloading pistol cases but this is his first foray into reloading for a rifle. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

It sounds like the resizing die isn't set far enough down. But there's more to it than that...

If those cases were shot out of the same rifle, you would think they would fit the chamber even if they weren't resized. That is the principal behind 'fire-forming' cases. In fact, many bolt-action rifle reloaders only resize the neck and never try to move the shoulder.

Check to see if a fired case, without resizing, will fit in the chamber. It should...

Another experiment: measure the height to the shoulder of a factory round. Fire it and see if the shoulder moves higher. If so, perhaps the chamber is a little long or the cartridge is assuming a smaller chamber.
