View Full Version : Sig Sauer SP2022producton over a 1/2 million
Used by over 6 countrys and the French near 300,000 bought. The Sp2022 has a good service record being robust and reliable by those you use them. One test pistol hit the 460,000 round count and still working. They are great shooters and very accurate &reliable. I am pleased with my 9mm Sig 2022 it has been a great combat 9mm. The U.S. goverment bought 5,000 -10,000 a few years ago for the Tank comand +transport units. It is one tuff reliable service auto. For near $500 a great buy. Some come with nite sites. Mags are about $40 for the 15rd Sig Brand ,but you can get Megars even in 17rd for less than $30 and they are reliable.
I'm glad you like your SP2022. I've often seen pictures of them and read a little bit about them, but I don't know much about them. the SP2022 looks like a nice pistol.
I have a P229 and think it's a great gun.
I've held one. I've never had a pistol grip feel that good in my hand. They're on sale for $399 at Cabela's and I'm very tempted to pick one up. Problem is that I really can't justify buying one.
I've got a polymer frame G19. I have a hammer fire DA/SA 92-Compact. The local range does not have one available to rent. If I save up a few more bucks, I can get a 226.

Define "accurate".
2-3" off rest at 25yds. 7-10 yard line head shots all day slow fire. Very good shooters.

Like mine, Carters Country here has them for $379 with night sights and one 15 rnd mag.
The fit and finish on mt 11-2011 is suberb on par with my new gen4 Glock if not slightly better finish&machining. DA/SA trigger pull very smooth. Where Sig saves money is by giving one mag only. Glocks give 2-3 mags because the charge $50-100 more. Be time you get a few extra magazines there the same price$500-550. But I feel the Sig is a better pistol. LE price with 3 mags for the Glock is less than $400. Glocks don,t cost a few hundred dollars to make.
The local dealer had some for 399 last year.
I played with one in 9mm. I did seriously think about buying one for a couple days, but couldn't get over the terrible trigger. This coming from someone who actually likes and owns Sigma pistols.
The Da wasn't so bad, but the single action was just horrid. I would have expected better from Sig. Then again, maybe the 1911 has ruined me for any other guns.

They're pretty great handguns. I like the trigger, even.

The single action on a 1911 is unlike any other. It'll spoil you for sure. Once I got used to the trigger on my 2022 I really like it, though.

Mine was horrid too as first, but after a few hundred rounds it smoothed out. Now its really good. I love my 2022. I may pick one up in .40 someday.

Still a good pistol even if they insist on these silly finishes.
This is a great gun and the price at about $400 less than half of what the P229 goes for. Its on my to get list.

The SP2022 is a nice polymer pistol at a great price from SIG. I almost picked one up a couple times, but it's a bit heavy (29oz) and large for a carry pistol, especially when you compare it to the G19 or 23 ...

The 2022 is looks chunkier, but it carries very much like a G19 in my opinion. It's an enigma.

one of, if not THE, most underrated pistol on the market.
Yes carrys the same as the G19,I see no difference in size. I like the way it shoots and the DA/SA pull and the decocker. A class 9mm. The balance and soft recoil is great. I shot this side by side with a Glock G19 and Walther PPQ and I would pick the Sig 2022 everytime over the other two. The Hk P30 is made the same as all these polymere frame auto,s. I,ll bet the same outfit makes all the polymere frames in Germany.

Picked me up a Sig sp2022 in .40 a few weeks ago. Put about 350 rounds thru it the first weekend without a hiccup. Love it.
