I currently have a Glock 26 and a Glock 19. I love the sizes for carry and capacity. I see that many on GT carry G19s and G17s.

I am looking for your opinion about a possible new Glock 17 for carry, range, and home defense. Considering that a Glock 17 would only give me 2 more rounds than my G19, with a only a little more sight range, would I be better buying the new G17 or consider getting another G19? I am 6'2" and 235lbs so carrying a G17 should not be a problem.

Thanks in advance,

Frank

There are a lot of people who prefer the 19 over the 17 or 23 over the 22 mainly because of size. They prefer the compact and find it shoots the same. I wouldn't recommend the 17 for concealed carry but there are people who do it. Home defense and range I think it makes a great gun. Plus if I were you I'd use the G17 mags as spare mags when carrying the G19 or 26.

If you can conceal a G17 to your liking I would say buy it. I carry a G22 in the winter then on down to the G27 in summer with the G23 in between. I am only 5'11" and 160 so I have to dress accordingly.

If you already have a 19, then the 17 is not really needed.
On the other hand. If you had had the 17 already. The 19 is always an added bonus

I just purchased a gen4 17 to go along with my gen3 19 and gen4 26. My initial reaction is that I prefer the 17 over the 19. I was messing with my holsters today and think you can conceal the 17 fairly well with the right clothes in the winter. For summer definitely go with the 26. I think you will not be disappointed with the 17. Just my .02 cents.

I feel a difference between the 19 and 17 but I understand some people really don't. I also take advantage of the extra 1/2" sight radius for competition shooting.

Do not own a 19, however the 26 and 17 make a really nice combo. The gen 4 17 is just about as good as it gets. The only down size to the gen 4 17 is the cost of ammo, you just shoot more because it is fun.
