Over 25 years in radio, Rush Limbaugh (http://www.thedailybeast.com/articles/2012/03/04/rush-limbaugh-s-apology-liberal-men-need-to-follow-suit.html)’s dominance of the AM dial has become a fact of American life.

Until, maybe, now.

The great majority of that article is crap. Rush gets money from his national account advertisers, that he typically endorses. The great majority of the advertisers that "dumped him" are the local advertisers that said they didn't want to advertise during his time slot, and were moved to other time slots on that station. The stations weren't out any revenue, and Rush never saw any of that revenue anyway, so it was a non-issue to him.
A couple of his national accounts that pulled their ads have already started asking to come back, and he told at least one to go pound sand.

I like Mike Huckabee, but he's a politician, not an entertainer. He'll never get the ratings Rush does.

Well said!

Rush Limbaugh is the most listened to radio host in America.
Mike Huckabee is a washed up politician.

Rush Limbaugh is hated for one reason: He's effective.
He hits them where it hurts and they don't like it.

In the huge and influential Greater Washington DC Metropolitan Area market, Rush went on FM last year.

WMAL AM 630 still broadcasts him, as does the new powerhouse WMAL FM 105.9 with a signal that stretches from Baltimore to West Virginia.

But if you want to pretend that Rush is going off the air, go ahead.:notlistening:

Mike Huckabee should be extradited to Washington state to face murder charges for pardoning a convicted killer.

I don't dislike Huckabee but he's no Rush Limbaugh.

The same goes for O'Reilly, John Gibson as well as a few others.

Our major AM station in the Detroit is WJR and if they drop Rush.....I drop them.

I'll bet you didn't notice that most of those advertisers are either US government (the Obama administration) or run by liberals. When their donations drop they will go crawling back.

Then again I wouldn't trust anything put out by Media Smatters either.

And I say that even though I'm no fan of Rush.

Are you slow? How could anybody look at that list and see the only advertisements left on el-Rushbo's show are governmental non-partisan giant package ad buys...

And when you say: "When their donations drop they will go crawling back." I guess I don't understand what you mean. Donations to whom? They'll go crawling back to the show that they alone are advertising on? You make no sense.

And if you don't believe mediamatters then just follow the link. They provide audio links to every commercial break as direct evidence.

Limbaugh's show is an advertising wasteland. The market has spoken and his scumbag behavior has accrued a great cost. His core audience is comprised of old, angry, white males and that's not much of a draw for advertisers. Less so in the future. Will Rush disappear? Not by a long shot. But he really shot himself in the foot this time.

Frum is a Bushie Neo-Con who writes political pornography for Democrats. He is not thoughtful, is prose is sophomoric, his political opinions are obtuse and/or pandering to an audience that wants a Bushie who tells them what they want to hear.

There are intelligent and interesting Liberal columnists but Frum isn't one of them. His works have no value to any market other than Democrats in need of a good ego-stroke.

Rush had spinal surgery and became addicted to the pain killers his doctor prescribed for the post-op pain.

All addicts will tell you they have a good reason for their addiction. Every single one.

Like addicts everywhere, Rush sought to feed his addiction through Dr. shopping and other means. Because he is rich and intelligent doesn't make him any less of an addict.

It happens to all social classes and positions in life.

From the post in this thread, I was concerned that Rush might have been taken off the air. But not to worry! Today I was in the car just a little after noon. I drove out to the range and enjoyed shooting my revolvers. Then I went inside the gun shop and looked at the guns. Then I drove home. At 3 p.m. Hannity came on. He follows Rush. What I noticed was that Rush was on broadcasting wall to wall from Noon till 3 p.m. Then Hannity came on. Cool. Rush is right, as normal. The world turns. Very cool.

While it was fun to watch you spinning around in your hamster cage it's now gotten a little bit pathetic. "Huckabubba's" new show doesn't go on the air for 2 more weeks. Not that I give a rip about it.

The big question in the next few months for Rush will be whether or not he regains a portion of his lost sponsors. There's only so long he can go on without major advertisers. There's also the issue with all of his Cumulus stations and the end of contract with those folks. Limbaugh sees heat over comments turn down to a simmer
http://www.washingtonpost.com/lifestyle/style/limbaugh-sees-heat-over-comments-turn-down-to-a-simmer/2012/03/28/gIQAspEKhS_story.html
On Monday, the 600 or so radio stations that air Limbaugh’s program were told by his syndicator, Premiere Radio Networks, to resume running “barter” ads during his program. Stations are required to run these ads in exchange for paying discounted fees to Premiere to air Limbaugh’s show. Premiere, which is owned by radio giant Clear Channel Communications, had suspended the “barter” requirement for two weeks in a move widely seen as a way to give advertisers a chance to lie low while Limbaugh was in the news.
.....
Limbaugh’s advertising losses may have been less than media accounts suggested. While more than 100 advertisers told Premiere that they didn’t want to be associated with “controversial” radio programs of any kind in the wake of the flap, some of these companies weren’t regular Limbaugh sponsors in the first place.
Angelo Carusone, who is leading the anti-Limbaugh efforts for Media Matters for America said; "most of the advertiser exodus over the past month appeared to be among companies whose ads aired only in regional or local markets".

Rachel Nelson, a spokeswoman for Premiere, said; “Contrary to the wishful thinking of the professional special interest groups, reports of sponsors fleeing the ‘Rush Limbaugh Show’ are grossly exaggerated. In fact, the program retains virtually of all its long-term sponsors who continue to have great success”.

You just cannot make this stuff up....

Did Mike Huckabee Open His New Radio Show With a ‘Planted Call’?
http://www.theblaze.com/stories/did-mike-huckabee-open-his-new-radio-show-with-a-planted-call/
Huckabee, who started a new program through Cumulus Media Network on Monday, is trying to carve out listenership from a conservative base that listens to Limbaugh religiously from 12-3p every day. In other words, he’s unashamedly going to war for the same listeners. But the conservative outlet The American Spectator was tipped out off to something interesting on the first day of Huckabee’s new show that might not help that cause: the first “listener” to call in was actually a radio executive involved in the show. And no one revealed that important detail.

Jeff Lord from The American Spectator (http://spectator.org/archives/2012/04/10/huckabee-show-opens-with-stage/) wrote Mike McVay, the senior vice president of programming for Cumulus Media Network (which launched Huckabee's radio show), after Lord got a tip that McVay was “Mike from San Francisco” was the first caller. McVay didn't respond so Lord contacted McVay’s bosses. One of them, John Dickey, responded...
Thanks for listening to the show. To your question a colleague in the companywas excited about the new show and arranged to call in with the first questionwithout Governor Huckabee’s knowledge. When I learned of this I began theprocess of reminding my colleagues in the company that we should reserveair-time for our listeners and refrain from calling in to our own shows.

Could Huckabee Overtake Rush? Governor Must Read the Ratings and Weep
http://newsbusters.org/blogs/tim-graham/2012/06/23/could-huckabee-overtake-rush-governor-must-read-ratings-and-weep
"According to newly-released Arbitron audience data, the Huckster is off to the kind of start that makes Air America Radio appear downright successful." In some markets, Huckabee isn't showing much of a pulse:

– In New York City, where he currently airs evenings on WOR-AM, Huck ranked just 20th overall in the broadest audience demographic, listeners six and older.

– Houston's KSEV registered a tiny 0.1 overall audience share during his timeslot, good for 43th place in what should be a friendly environment.

– In Seattle, heard from 4-6pm local time, Mike drew a 0.2 on KCIS-AM, for a 36th place finish.

– A similar story in Cincinnati: 0.2 overall and 31st place on WQRT-AM.

-- Hartford: 0.0 at WDRC-AM.

In markets where the two hosts go head to head, like in Dallas, Portland, San Francisco, and Jacksonville, Limbaugh is crushing Huckabee under foot.

"The bottom line: we know why the establishment media loves Huck, but we can't figure out why Cumulus [Media] would willingly undermine itself with this truly doomed effort, unless they're looking for a giant tax write-off."

I can't wait to find out today whether Rush will be on the air, or replaced by Huck.

Who's that college girl who has the huge condom bill again?Awww... I was sure somebody was going to post some nuggets of Huckabubba wisdom. Instead, I still have no idea where dat Huckabubba is! He's such a radio rascal!

Sandra Fluke, inimitable leader of the Fluckheads. Although I'd wager it's a huge bill for tiny condoms. Just sayin'. :whistling:

and the 2 liberals in the thread, fail as usual...

do you think they sit there feeling sorry for themselves? one is an obvious d.u. troll, just brain dead to begin with, wouldn't know which end of a gun to hold. trying to come onto a gun forus and convert us all to her/his/its messiah

the other actually thinks he's clever and intelligent....just sad.
