Today marks the first time in my life I was able to look at exactly what pistol I wanted over ANYTHING else, and buy it.. Hard work, my part-time job, and the Marine Corps gave me the ability to buy my dream handgun, the FNH Tactical .45 in FDE.. I bought it brand new with the whole factory kit and it should arrive Monday here in Michigan. I CANNOT WAIT! I already have 250 rounds of Remington UMC (If it'll eat that, I'll be a happy man..) stocked up and I'll post a range report after its' arrival. Anyone who currently owns and/or carries one of these, feel free to chime in with your loves/hates. Semper Fi!

Congrats on an awesome gun

Just FYI, avoid WWB ammo, FN recommend against using it

What's the MSRP on one of those? I could always use another .45

Congrats! It is an AWESOME pistol. I had mine at the range today. Got the RMR on it, but no suppressor, YET.

I can attest to this statement. Just finished my gun trust so I can get going on getting the Osprey for the FNP-45. FNX-45 Tactical was just announced. Wonder what the difference is between the two models.

Contrats on the new pistol. Glad you got what you want and glad you got a 45acp, awesome ctg. that's been around forever and seems to never go away. Just can't beat cubic inches or large calibers.

Thanks all, it's a pretty damn good feeling to not have to compromise in any about what you want and to then pay for it with the money you earned with your blood, sweat, & tears.. I'm 23 years old and will be a commissioned 2nd Lt. in the Marine Corps by year's end, my life is truly just beginning and I thought this would be a helluva way to kick things off! S/F

Not much info is out, but so far it's been said they designed new mags

I have an Evo, Tirant, and osprey and honestly the Tirant is really good (I use it on my 9mm sbr and 45 hk's) and that's the one I would get if u had multiple hosts, but te osprey as just as good, slightly more versatile, and looks sexy, but u gotta time the thing so it's straight Everytime u switch hosts.

Can't wait to put rounds through this thing today!! And for all you guys that baby your pistols, I'm sorry but I'm gonna put this thing through as much hard use as I can... Holster en route from Casino's Kydex creations, soon to be my daily carry. Will be taking on a 42 mile hike over a four day period in northern Michigan where this beast will serve as my designated "bear deterrant". I plan very much on getting my FNP wet and filthy dirty! Cheers to hard working guns!

I thought id love this, but then i held one. LOVE the gun, feels right in hand, very manly. The red dot was unnatural and i can aim irons faster. Weird cause on rifles i love red dots. It also affected my ability to reload as im an over the top guy.

IMO, the FN 45 is the best polymer .45 available today!

Bullitt01

Lovin' all the positive reviews on your FN's guys! Diesel, I'm actually a little concerned myself about putting a red dot on the thing because I ALWAYS go over the top since I was taught NEVER to use the slide release/stop because all guns are different in their placement of said slide release/stop and so one should train their muscle memory on just racking the slide back to chamber the next round. However, I can see how I could still go over the top with the RMR but I'd have be careful about grabbing/not grabbing the red dot itself instead of the slide.

faawrenchbndr

The RMR would not be optimal to use to rack the slide, but could be used.

How does your FN compare to your USP?

Bullitt01

Yea, it will be difficult to avoid but can be done. I reckon I'll see how I shoot without one first, definitely not a mandatory purchase for me as of yet.

I love the standard fnp 45 it feels good in hand and is a manly gun. However the tactical i thought id love and didnt from handling a couple. The red dot is weird to use and i couldnt get a good picture. I use irons faster. Strange since on rifles for me its all about optics. Also im an over the top guy and it gets in the way of reloads.

Cubic inches? :dunno: Really? We're measuring by volume now? I can't tell the difference between a teaspoon and a tablespoon!

...now a pint on the other hand... :tongueout:

Sweet FN though. I like to idea of a RMR on it. Congrats!

How does your FN compare to your USP?

depends on which one you compare it to, of the pistols I OWN, I would rate it on my personal preference (trigger, accuracy, feel):

USP 45 tactical> USP SD> FNP tactical> HK45CT>USP 45CT

I either own or used to own all of the above (HK45CT is the only one I sold, didn't like how the right side slide lock would rattle, and I didn't shoot it better than my USP tactical, and realized I would NEVER carry it). For some reason I like the FULL size USP's SO much more than any other gun, It just works for me. the main reason I bought the FNP tactical is #1 it was a wedding gift from my brother, #2 I wanted another .45 suppressor host, #3 I wanted a gun with an optic, and that was the easiest gun to add an optic to. The USP's I think has a more crisp SA trigger, but heavier DA trigger (doesn't matter b/c I just target shoot with them and shoot them almost SOLELY in SA). The FN on the other hand I can't shoot as well, but there's plenty of guns I don't shoot well.

The USP tactical has one of the nicest triggers that I ever had in a non-1911 gun. I plan to thread and suppress a hk p30L next.

Just put 250 rounds through my FN, NOT ONE SINGLE HICCUP... Not that I expected any. Easily the most accurate shots I've ever personally fired from a handgun. Not only do I love my new FN, but I also just bought a brand new Doctor Red Dot sight from a fellow GT'er/Marine. Semper Fi!
