I have been watching the Diehard marathon on AMC and got to thinking. In the first Diehard movie, what pistol I would want to have on me in that situation. I think I would go with my CZ 85 Combat 9mm. What about you? Assuming you can use pistols made up to now? The classic Diehard?

Traditional handgun? My 92FS.

Legal "pistol"? AR15 pistol in 300Blk with suppressor, EOTech EXPS 3.0, Surefire, Geissele trigger, neoprene buffer tube cover, good sling, as many 30rd Pmags as I could carry, and NVDs. Get some!

Glock 7!
You know what that is? It's a porcelain gun made in Germany. It doesn't show up on your airport X-ray machines, and it costs more than you make here in a month.

One of those Colt Python revolvers that holds about 50 rounds. See them on TV all the time, but for some strange reason it seems that only the good guys get the really high capacity ones.

If we have a clothes wishlist too, some Danners, good knee and elbow pads, clear shooting glasses, and level IIIA armor with SAPI plates would be pretty nice!

Seems like he is always engaging in long suspended fire gunfights, so I would say a g17 for the capacity.

I say the 92FS, or maybe 92A1 for something newer. That's his traditional gun in the first two. I can't speak for 3 and 4, as I don't recall what he used.

After my post I got to looking around online for a CZ 75 SA and it sure appears that CZ's aren't the the best kept secret in pistols anymore. I couldn't find one anywhere, and can barely find a regular 75B, much less another 85 Combat or 75 SA. Not long ago you could find any of them easily!

Suppressed G17.

Lots of shots before having to reload. Quiet enough to not be noticed by people in other parts of the building.

Kind of like this one.

http://i256.photobucket.com/albums/hh168/HaldorPhil/Guns/P1010420.jpg

Its kind-of funny. I was planning on putting taller sights on my G17 to clear the suppressor, but I have been doing so much trap shooting lately that sighting along the suppressor (like it is the barrel of the gun) is starting to feel normal. Faster too.

The pistol groups tighter with the suppressor than without which surprised me a bit.

Glock 18. Because, apparently, nothing is as effective against a large terrorist gang, as spraying hundreds of bullets in their general direction to foil their plans.

I have to say this thread is funny.

"Hey, if you could take the distinctive Beretta 92FS out of one of its most iconic film roles and replace it with an indistinct handgun or better yet, a lump of plastic, which uglier pistol would it be?"

BuckyP
03-19-2012, 13:21
His 92FS did just fine. A couple of factory 20 round magazines would be nice as well. Maybe a model with a rail, with a light on it (it was night, lucky for him he always had decent lighting). Make it a G model and add a laser and you have my house gun. :innocent:

Rule #1 among the Beretta fans: don't talk about John McClane's pistol choice.

Rule #2: If you do talk about Jon McClane's pistol choice it can only be in terms of other 92s: M9, 92a1, Elite, the Dash, etc.

Rule #3: Feel sympathy for the German Terrorists because they had to go up against John and his 92.

Like a ninja, I would disappear in the thick clouds of smoke, take out a couple of the miscreants, and then reappear elsewhere.

Repeat as necessary until all threats are neutralized.

Wasn't he a NYPD Detective? What about G19, S&W 5906, or Sig226 all 9mm?
Could go old school and use a M10 S&W w/4in Heavy bbl, and a back up M36 38 spec.
Just thinking about training NYPD Officers. The 92f did a number on the terrorists, so no biggie.
