I have the offer to trade my Benelli M3 for a MSAR Stg in tan. I already own a bushmaster m4 and another 12ga. Would this be a good trade on my part? I know microtech isn't making the Stg's anymore and I've herd storys of an import ban on said shotguns...

What say you? Any and all opinions welcome!

For this...
And the sight mark, comes with it.

Already having an M-4 I would hang on to the shotgun. Imop

Any word on that shotgun ban?

IMO I think I would keep the shotgun! Trick out your M4 if you want a different look or feel.

I'd keep the shotgun. To me the MSAR is really only good IF there is a ban, and then only IF you were already planning on selling it. Just my $.02.

Any word on that shotgun ban?

Benelli has not been able to import the magazine extensions for some time now but have not heard of any shotgun ban other than the banter that comes up every year or so.

You can buy an extension for a Benelli, just not an imported factory extension.

No opinion on the trade. It's about what you like/want. Did you check gunbroker on prices of both?

Gunbroker has the msar's at 1000 up to like 2500 the M3s are around 1200...

So how about a collectors point of view? Any thoughts on which would be more sought after?

MSAR is currently in Bankruptcy,......I would avoid the STG like the plague!

I love the bullpup platforms. And I love and own a Steyr and the AUG design. But with all the issues the STG has had and the problems that MSAR is currently having, I'd avoid an MSAR rifle. The MSAR looks like a straight copy of the AUG, but it's not. No parts interchange, not even the magazines.

Now I know a person or two that have and STG and like it. But I also know several that have had all sort of issues with them.

I'd pass. All AUGs have collector value, but I don't think the MSARs do. Honestly, in my opinion the MSAR was a mediocre made, poorly designed, reverse engineered thing.

Assuming the MSAR owner is up front with you and his rifle has been 100%, I'd only trade for it if you got about $400, plus the rifle. The MSAR to me, is at best a $700-800 gun.

The MSARs used to sell for around $1600-2000 or so a few years. Now they sell, if they sell, for a lot less.

It'll cost more, but I'd go for an actual AUG. And Steyr is supposed to resume production of the A3 sometime this year.
