View Full Version : Santorum: Might As Well Have Obama Over Romney

Well, he finally said it...........

Presidential candidate Rick Santorum on Thursday said Republicans should give President Barack Obama another term if Santorum isn’t the GOP nominee and for a second day compared rival Mitt Romney to an Etch A Sketch toy.

Santorum reiterated an argument he has made before: The former Massachusetts governor is not conservative enough to offer voters a clear choice in the fall election and that only he can provide that contrast.

Santorum might be somewhat butt-hurt. :whistling:

He's done better than I thought he would, which is sad.

It's boiled down to a big-government social conservative warmonger, a big-government liberal republican warmonger, and a big-government liberal democrat warmonger.

Oh joy, America is winning.

Open convention FTW!!!

A month ago I was saying a brokered convention was a distinct possibility. Not so sure now. Romney won some states I didn't think he would.

I still consider this campaign rhetoric and would be surprised if he didn't jump on board the Romeny train, as it looks like it will be now.

I think a lot of people feel the same way. That was a very stupid statement Rick made.

I don't like any of this crop but any of them will be better than reelecting the Nazi.

WE have allowed it to boil down to a big-government social conservative warmonger, a big-government liberal republican warmonger, and a big-government liberal democrat warmonger.

Oh joy, America is winning.

Fixed that for you. :wavey:

We have the government that we deserve.

Maybe once we accept personal responsibility for our actions, we can begin to change directions.

Until then . . . more of the same. It is all we can rationally and reasonably expect. :crying:

Show me Romney associating with communists and terrorists, giving unions everything they ask for and then some, praising foreign thug leaders, talking about how "fair" things need to be, wasting money on green energy, and then I will agree that he is identical to Obama.

This.

I get the sentiment, but its really shallow and superficial. There is a gulf of difference between even Romeny and BHO.

No problem. Well said. I'm in total agreement.

Yep, the welfare/warfare did not just show up one day with the election of Barry.

It's going to take more then an election to change this course. It's going to take a whole different look at the role of government in peoples lives and the acknowledgment of the root cause in the decline of America's prosperity, Big-daddy-government.

I'm hoping for a brokered convention and Sarah Palin wins. That would effectively kill the establishment for good.

She can take anything Obama can dish out and has been vetted unlike any other.

Show me Romney associating with communists and terrorists,
That's true, but Mittens has no problems bumping elbows with President 0's crony capitalists:
"I’m a big believer in getting money where the money is. And the money is in Washington…. I’ve learned from my Olympic experience that if you have people who really understand how Washington works, and have personal associations there, you can get money to build economic opportunities.”
-Mittens ('http://www.republicmagazine.com/videos/mitt-romney-big-believer-in-crony-capitalism-the-money-is-in-washington.html')

giving unions everything they ask for and then some,
Mittens had no problems pandering to public unions. ('http://www.buzzfeed.com/andrewkaczynski/when-romney-courted-the-unions') Though it is more likely that Mr. Etch-a-Sketch was just doing his thing.
praising foreign thug leaders,
Thankfully for Mitten's proponents, governors generally don't make foreign policy pronouncements.
talking about how "fair" things need to be,
Mittens supports the welfare state, Mark Stein writes:

Romney’s is a benevolent patrician’s view of society: The poor are incorrigible, but let’s add a couple more groats to their food stamps and housing vouchers, and they’ll stay quiet. ('http://www.nationalreview.com/corner/289859/re-what-wrong-guy-mark-steyn')
wasting money on green energy,
"As governor of Massachusetts, Mitt Romney created a fund to invest in green energy..." ('http://www.usatoday.com/news/washington/story/2011-09-07/Romneys-energy-rhetoric-differs-from-his-record-as-governor/50304822/1')
and then I will agree that he is identical to Obama.
Wheter you like it or not Mittens raised taxes, fashioned the blueprints for ObamaCare (advocating for national public mandates ('http://www.redstate.com/paulkib/2012/03/03/more-romney-on-the-mandate/')), signed what he describes as an assault weapon ban, supported Cap-and-Trade, ('http://www.freedomworks.org/blog/bstein80/wall-street-journal-examines-mitt-romneys-cap-and') and advance a liberal social agenda. ('http://stevedeace.com/news/iowa-politics/the-case-against-mitt-romney/')

It is fair to say that Mittens was a progressive governor who unapologetically retains positions and promotes policy from his governorship.

You can believe that he's all better now, but I don't.

You can believe that he's all better now, but I don't.[/QUOTE]

And Santorum's all better now? Voting for the Bridge To Nowhere? Voting to raise the debt ceiling 5 times? Admitting he is a fan of big earmarks? And how about how he goes after the real issues like birth control(which 95% of the population approves of) and pornography(a legal, multi-billion dollar industry supported by many Christians, no less)? You certainly did some good research on Romney, and he is not an ideal candidate, but he is more electable than Santorum and everyone knows it. Independents, the same ones that elected the Commie, aren't going to vote for an ultra-right religious creep. Besides that, I truly believe that Santorum would spend as much money as Obama, if not more so, on "his" stuff.

I was prepared to give Santorium a chance....It seems to me that all he can do is whine...unfortunately it seems that we conservatives have nothing but a bunch of self centered idiots running for office. Is this really the best we can do?
