Obama is setting his sights on killing coal fired power plants. Sounds like the only power that Obama likes is the "power" that he wields/abuses. Also, he wants to make all his crony buds rich(like Solyndra).

Thank goodness those solar panels from Solyndra will compensate for the cheapest and most plentiful source of power for electricity in this country...

Wait -- what...?

I am reassured that the EPA has stated that even with the loss of hundreds of thousands of jobs and an estimated increase of electrical power of around 19%, we should save money on health care costs.

It's for our own safety. Just think how safe we will be in the dead of winter when there is no electricity to power our furnaces or when we don't have the power to run our AC's in the next heatwave.

Well, if the elderly die from lack of heat or cooling think how much we will save on Medicare alone.

Good point! More savings!

EPA wants us to burn natural gas for electricity and get off coal. The CO2 standards they put out require coal to match gas 1,000 lbs CO2 per mw-hr. Sounds great except you can't do it.

As soon as coal plants are getting shut down and replaced by natural gas, they will probably stop fracking process as too dangerous and then gas prices will shoot up again like in the 90's.

There is more coal in the US than any other energy resource - only real use is for steel and electricity production. Too bad the idiots in White House and EPA just don't get it.

They are halting fracking several places due to the caused earthquakes and yeah the price will eventually correct. Today they are already closing and idling US coal mines left and right. This will devastate communities. There are entire regions where the economies are interrelated and majorly dependent on coal and most don't even realize it.
