Mittens must march to the middle. The latest Gallup Poll puts him behind Obama 51 to 42% while among women he trails by an astounding 54 to 36%. Now that he has the nomination pretty well sewn up, let's watch as he etches his way toward the middle. Look for a softer tone on the social issues, getting his wife on the stump more and doing the backtracking he is so famous for. Before it's all over, he may describe himself as
"a severely moderate governor."

The question will be whether having been pushed to the right extreme on social issues by Santorum and Gingrich, he will have damaged himself so much in the eyes of independents and women that he can't recover. He also has to run from his signature achievement as governor - the health care law he engineered calling for an individual mandate that ensured every resident of the state had coverage.

Mittens must march to the middle...

He wouldn't have to march anywhere if he was a real republican/conservative instead of a New England tax and spend liberal.

But, he's what we're stuck with and he will most certainly be better than four more years of Obama.

This is being said but I don't get it. Aside from abortion (even there his stance is moderate for a Republican) where has Mittens turned "hard right?"

:dunno:
