We can't pay our own bills, and beggers are lined up at the printing press.
...... IMF managing director Christine Lagarde implored the United States to help back-stop debt-ridden European countries, wading neck-deep into bubbling US political waters.

Speaking in the US capital, Lagarde said the 187-nation International Monetary Fund needed more firepower to tackle financial crises raging around the globe, arguing it was in the US interest to pitch in and help Europe.

"Americans might ask themselves: why should what happens in the rest of the world concern us? Don't we have our own problems?" she said, according to prepared remarks.

"The answer is simple: In today's world, we cannot afford the luxury of staying in our own mental backyards."

"If the European economy falters, the American recovery and American jobs would be in jeopardy. So America has a large stake in how Europe fare -- and how the world fares......."

Sure, give them a trillion dollars. Really, does it make that much difference to be 17 trillion dollars in debt instead of 16?

When is somebody going to bail me out?

I've worked hard all my life and probably, like most people, paid
far more in taxes than I should have.

My tax money has been used for everything under the sun,
and I think it's about time some of it went back into my pocket.

I'm not asking for millions like the big corporations do, just a
couple of hundred thousand would be fine.

I can't pay my bills but I should help finance not only my own bloated government, but European governments too? Awesome.

I saw in 'Human Events' that what I took to be a weasel sub-species with the name Geitner (I'm pretty sure) is all for giving IMF anything it needs. He claimed it was best for the USA to give this money away.

I suppose he'll be giving the rest of our money away when opportunity arises. He is such a ---!

if you paid everyone in the u.s. a $100,000 (18 years and older), it would only cost 10 billion dollars. too easy?

One commentator pointed out that if the federal government had used the bailout money to pay mortgage holders instead of banks, they could have basically paid off all the mortgages under a half a million dollars in the country, which would have fixed the default problem, too.

Only thing was, bankers bribed them (I'm sorry, campaign contributed them) into giving them the money instead.

Americans should break their backs working hard so that Greeks, Italians, and Frenchmen can work less than 35 hrs per week and have two weeks off in the summer. Sure why not
