Think it might be AOW. Hit the ATF web site and do some research on short barrel shotguns.

It is an AOW I do believe. Is there anything special I need to do to obtain it besides register it?

2 in magazine, plus 1 in the chamber. Wonder if it is legal for duck hunting ?

Short barrel shotgun, NFA registration required, ATF considers it an AOW (Any Other Weapon)

Should be $5 stamp

They are not hard to get at all really, depending on your state laws. All you need is a good dealer and some paperwork.

Also check out Saftey Harbor they are a little cheaper. Also offer a 10in barrel that holds 4 instead of 3. Offered on the 870 or 500 platform. http://www.safetyharborfirearms.com/products/shotguns/shotguns.html

i'm not one to judge another man's wants, but i have to wonder what would make somebody want to pay three times the price for a 3rd of a gun.

that's like paying 30$ for a pair of denim shorts when you can get a full pair of jeans for 10$ lol

Some people have a need/want for a short shotgun?
Sounds reasonable enough to me!

$5 transfer tax, but the $200 making tax is rolled into the price.

Take out a tape measure and extend it to 16.5 in, now tell me that a shotgun that size is not kinda cool. If it's what he wants who cares what he pays.

Then again you look at the 16.5 inches and say thats not for you then don't buy one. I think they are cool but for what you pay I would buy a SBS instead of and AOW. You can add a pistol grip to a SBS but can't add a stock to an AOW.

Yes its an AOW, form 4 + $5 tax stamp, typical approval times for AOW are around 3 months.

Wait times on Forms 1 and 4 are running closer to 5-6 months now for most states.

STUPIDITY! That's what class it's in. I used to know a fellow who thought it would be a good idea to carry one inside his briefcase. The first time he fired it, he almost broke his wrist; and, thereafter, he had to use a pistol with his left-hand for awhile. After that nobody in the office would, so much as, touch the thing.

What did he do, use a 3" magnum with a weak grip? The recoil on a Serbu is stout, but manageable, especially with low recoil buck. Toss a Knox breacher's grip on it, and it's downright pleasant.

But the government doesn't tax you $20 to cut down a pair of jeans into shorts.

Or jump through multiple flaming hoops to be legally allowed to MAKE shorts.

I don't know what he did. I wasn't there. This incident was related to me by a government officer who lived next door to us for 5 years. (He and I used to, 'talk shop' in the evening.) I do, however, very much doubt that the ammunition was, 'low recoil'. I can, also, tell you that my wrists used to ache after I fired one of these things; and I know I wasn't using low brass in it, either.

One advantage to an AOW is you can carry one loaded in your vehicle. Ohio does not permit carry of a loaded rifle or shotgun in your vehicle even if you have a CCW license.

Plus it is cooler than all get out. I like the looks of that 10", 20 gauge version based on a Mossberg 500 from Safety Harbor.

Current config: $5.

Add stock:$200.

Correct? Not having a stock it turns to AOW, but with stock it's back to being SBS?

A nice perk. PA is the same about long guns.. Kinda has me thinking about a Draco AK pistol
