Hey, if we’re going to talk about how presidential candidates treated dogs decades ago, let’s talk about how presidential candidates treated dogs decades ago. (http://dailycaller.com/2012/04/17/obama-bites-dog/)

Can you name the author of this quote?

“With Lolo, I learned how to eat small green chill peppers raw with dinner (plenty of rice), and, away from the dinner table, I was introduced to dog meat (tough), snake meat (tougher), and roasted grasshopper (crunchy)...”

Yep, that’s Barack Obama, writing about his childhood with his stepfather Lolo Soetoro in Indonesia, from Chapter Two of his bestseller Dreams from My Father: A Story of Race and Inheritance.

So:

Romney: Dog on top of car.

Obama: Dog on top of rice with a light ginger sauce.

Here, I'll throw you a bone.

The Left and the Media (but I repeat myself) went full-court-apoplectic over the story about Romney and his dog Seamus. In fact, they still keep bringing it up. Why? Because focus groups show that whenever they push the story, Romney's positives go down.

This isn't about whether a dog wagging its tail at the White House is properly called a Happy Meal. It's about exposing the hypocrisy of the left. Heck the founder of "Dogs Against Romney" is defending Obama on the point. (http://www.mediaite.com/online/dogs-against-romney-defends-obama-over-dog-consumption-revelations/?utm_source=feedburner&utm_medium=feed&utm_campaign=Feed%3A+mediaite%2FClHj+%28Mediaite%29)

So are these childish, absurd jokes? Of course. And I don't happen to believe the Left should be the only group allowed to indulge. Little Orphan Puppy agrees:

Now you tell me! :freak:

The American people did NOT put Barak Obama in the White House. George Soros and that historical anachronism, The Electoral College, did.

Just got my new copy of, 'Shooting Illustrated'. Obama's 2013 budget is discussed. If the article is correct, Obama has some blatantly dishonest measures and draconian gun laws in store for America's gun owners. (Remember, during his final term Obama is going to be, 'politically unassailable' and, from what I've been reading, he intends to take full advantage of the political situation.)

World financier George Soros is going to be sooo .... proud!

Rules for Radicals
By Saul Alinsky - 1971

7. Tactics
"Tactics are those conscious deliberate acts by which human beings live with each other and deal with the world around them. ... Here our concern is with the tactic of taking; how the Have-Nots can take power away from the Haves." p.126

Always remember the first rule of power tactics (pps.127-134):
1. "Power is not only what you have, but what the enemy thinks you have."
2. "Never go outside the expertise of your people. When an action or tactic is outside the experience of the people, the result is confusion, fear and retreat.... [and] the collapse of communication.
3. "Whenever possible, go outside the expertise of the enemy. Look for ways to increase insecurity, anxiety and uncertainty. (This happens all the time. Watch how many organizations under attack are blind-sided by seemingly irrelevant arguments that they are then forced to address.)
4. "Make the enemy live up to its own book of rules. You can kill them with this, for they can no more obey their own rules than the Christian church can live up to Christianity."
5. "Ridicule is man's most potent weapon. It is almost impossible to counteract ridicule. Also it infuriates the opposition, which then reacts to your advantage."
6. "A good tactic is one your people enjoy."
7. "A tactic that drags on too long becomes a drag. Man can sustain militant interest in any issue for only a limited time...."
8. "Keep the pressure on, with different tactics and actions, and utilize all events of the period for your purpose."
9. "The threat is usually more terrifying than the thing itself."
10. "The major premise for tactics is the development of operations that will maintain a constant pressure upon the opposition. It is this unceasing pressure that results in the reactions from the opposition that are essential for the success of the campaign."
11. "If you push a negative hard and deep enough, it will break through into its counterside... every positive has its negative."
12. "The price of a successful attack is a constructive alternative."
13. Pick the target, freeze it, personalize it, and polarize it. In conflict tactics there are certain rules that [should be regarded] as universalities. One is that the opposition must be singled out as the target and 'frozen.'...
"...any target can always say, 'Why do you center on me when there are others to blame as well?' When your 'freeze the target,' you disregard these [rational but distracting] arguments.... Then, as you zero in and freeze your target and carry out your attack, all the 'others' come out of the woodwork very soon. They become visible by their support of the target...'

Helpful hint...if you don't want to talk about eating dogs, don't write about it in your memoirs.

And since the Left apparently wants this to be about what each candidate has done to a dog, then by all means...let's look at what each candidate has done to a dog.

So sorry...just because something is embarassing to Obama or makes him out to be some kind of outsider (honestly, how many ten-year-old American boys can claim to have eaten a dog?) doesn't mean it isn't worthy of discussion.

That's one of the things I despise about John McCain….he tried to come across as a tough old codger, ex military, a fighter, etc…and when it came time to take the gloves off, he was a *****. "Refused to attack him personally"…BeeeEss…that's exactly what needed to be done because his character personally (rev wright, etc) was exactly what was wrong with him.

Before I learned how much I don't like about Romney, when he announced he came out of the gate with a whoopin speech that made me sit up and take notice. If he can smack obama around and not be chicken sheet about it, we may get to see the dog muncher get his comeuppance.

Then he had to undergo major surgery for a blocked intestine. (Eating horse chestnuts in the backyard.) That took a lot out of him! He lived another 5 years but lost a lot of his vim and vigor. I miss him something terrible; the little guy was my shadow. He licked my hand while he was dying; it broke my heart. (Frankly, I lost both my parents and didn't feel that bad.)

Suck to lose your dog, true that CF.

Before I learned how much I don't like about Romney, when he announced he came out of the gate with a whoopin speech that made me sit up and take notice. If he can smack obama around and not be chicken sheet about it, we may get to see the dog muncher get his comeuppance.

Agreed, under Romney's very presidential hair is one ruthless SOB. Plus he's never eaten a dog, so there's that.

Got my 16 yr old dox at the same time I met my wife and both knew where they stood in the pecking order.

He and I were constant companions. We could literally have conversations. He should have died at 15, quit having fun around 13. I had said my goodbyes and prepared myself to put him down any day, was waiting for a sign, when I found him in the yard.

Looks like I hit a nerve. For a forum that's made a lot of hay calling out perceived "Alinsky tactics", it must be a bit of a shock to realize that you're Alinskyites too.

And you're right, it is fair game. But I think your correlation of the two events; a child eating dog and a man abusing a dog, will ultimately be a negative for Romney. Sure, for the right wing faithful it's good for a laugh or two, but that's because it reinforces their perception of Obama as foreign and 'other'. Independents will likely consider the circumstances a little more objectively; the act of a child without choice and the act of an adult.

Abusing a dog? Go outside of NYC or LA and you'll see dogs happily riding in the back of pickups going 50 or 60 MPH down state highways, or happily sticking their heads out of a rolled down window.

Yes, because that's exactly why 24 hours after the meme started the Left was saying the dog wars had jumped the shark.

Once it got embarassing for Obama, it was no longer useful...as you're amply demonstrating here.

So no, don't flatter yourself. You didn't hit any of my nerves...you're too transparent for that.

And...at the end of the day, Obama still ate a ----ing dog. :faint:

He and I were constant companions. We could literally have conversations. He should have died at 15, quit having fun around 13. I had said my goodbyes and prepared myself to put him down any day, was waiting for a sign, when I found him in the yard.

:) Perhaps strangely I, somehow, feel better after reading that. (Thanks!) First thing my wife noticed after the little guy passed is that it's now difficult to know what's going on around the property and at the other side of the house. Nothing, and I do mean nothing, got past that Dachshund! He had the ability to pick up a person's footsteps from a good 50 or 60 yards away. (I was amazed the first time I noticed him doing it!)

If I were a younger man I'd immediately get another Dachshund; but, I really don't think it's, 'in the cards'. Something interesting happened last night, though. Years ago we took in a thin starving cat from the backyard. He was emaciated and didn't seem to be much of a cat; but he needed help; so we kept him. Today he is a very large male tomcat! He must have been abused by his former owner because, with the exception of my wife and me he absolutely hates the entirety of the human race. (He's big and he's tough. I wouldn't want to cross, 'Tweed' without a weapon in my hands.)

Around 4:00 o'clock this morning we were awoken by a deep bloodcurdling growl. Something, or someone, had tried to approach the bedroom window; and our man-hating tomcat had picked him up. This is what little Deeter used to do for us; and, now, one of our cats seems to be taking over our alert little Dachshund's place.

How, the Hell, could anyone eat a dog - How the Hell? :freak:

Yeah, we've kept dogs and cats in our home for many years, now, and know that it doesn't take long for a much larger dog to realize that a much smaller (but angry) cat prefers to use its claws to attack the eyes.

Still don't get what you're all so riled up about. You eat chicken, cow, pig, turkey, etc., right?

Is the moral majority simply grasping at their latest bit of percieved ammunition to use against the usurper-in-chief?

It's the hypocracy of the media that everyone is laughing about.

Romney transports dog on top of car = bad man.

Obama eats dog = culturally aware and interesting man.

If you don't get that, you probably don't laugh much. :)

I used to be a K-9 handler for a 95 pound, German trained to attack, German Shepard, that my department paid $5000 for.

I had to pull my 15 pound cat off of him one day. It looked like a hissing, spitting, and clawing, black and white tumor, first attached to his head, and then attached to his ass.

After that, he wouldn't stay on the same side of the yard as the cat. And, this, a German Shepard, who could clear a bar out like Jerry Lee in K-9.
