I put another 250 rounds through my gen 4 G22, and I don't remember my circa 1997 G22 being as accurate or soft shooting. I am am really digging the full size ... again.

I personally hate the G22. The odd grip does not fit my hand. I'm hoping I will like the gen 4 G22 better. I'll let you know when they come in and we are issued them.

Prior to the G4, I would choose the 23 over the 22 any day of the week and twice on Sundays. Now, I am sold on the Glock 22. I shoot it much better than my Gen. 2. The Gen. 2 is just unpleasant to me.

Two years ago I walked into Scottsdale Gun Club where I am a member and they had a case of G22 police trade-ins for $299 each. I was allowed to paw through them all and I picked two that must have been carried by desk officers, because they were like brand new. Both shoot with perfection. One is my bedside weapon and the other does mixed duty in other capacities including my predator hunting close in weapon. My EDC is a G36 however.

I have a G17 and G34, both with light/medium triggers. I purchased a Gen G22 in Feb. Like it a lot, but need to work on getting used to the standard Glock trigger. I use the G22 as my EDC CC weapon.

While I'm not really a fan of the round, I DO really like the G22. I have an early Gen.3 that I carry on duty and a Gen.4 that I've put 500 flawless rounds through so far. My duty pistol has easily had over 10,000 rounds put through it (I'm a LEO that DOES like to shoot) and has never malfunctioned.

I love my Gen2 Glock 22. A Lot. And I'm a pretty good shot with it =)

That being said, it IS an older model. So maybe I wouldn't like a Gen4? Not sure. But mine rocks.

I despise the G-22 (Gen 3)!!! Too much recoil and Glock knucle HURTS!!!

Is there any modification that can be done to the frame to relieve 2nd finger?

Does the gen 4 relieve any of the recoil?

I'm going to get the Gen 4 G22 for my duty weapon.

Of all the approved firearms we got to test fire, the G22 shot the best for me, and is stone reliable and idiot-proof.

I personally carry an XD-40 right now, but don't want to use it as my duty weapon. I love it and shoot it great, but with most of my fellow officers choosing/shooting Glocks, I think it will be nice to have the mag and parts interchange-ability.

(Plus, it's cheaper!)

I bought a G22 Gen 3 about six months ago. It was a LE trade-in and I got a great deal on it. I absolutely love shooting it and have gotten pretty accurate with it (after I got used to the trigger). I personally find the grip size to be just fine, but I have large hands (read: catcher's mitts). My only complaint is that the finger grooves do not line up with my large fingers. I have been considering having them removed. Obviously the Gen 4's will have the same issue, but I wouldn't mind trying out the largest Gen 4 backstrap.

SMSTRICK
04-24-2012, 09:25
I have the 2nd, 3rd and 4th Gen Glock 22's. I have carried the 3rd Gen for seven years now,...but just recently switched to the 4th Gen w/ Ameriglo Trijicon Ghost ring sights as my primary carry pistol.

The thing that I love about the 4th Gen is the grip (without the add on back straps.) Even though I have been accustomed to the 3rd Gen,...the 4th Gen grip (without the add on back straps) has more of a "two thumbs forward" 1911 point / aim control that I love. With the ghost ring sights and the two thumbs forward grip,...I throw the gun up and I am dead on center mass every time,...natural point of aim.

The Glock G22 4th Gen is by far my favorite pistol ever produced. I love the texture, the grip, etc. The only modifications that I have done to it other than that is the Gen 4 Jentra plug and the 3.5 Lb connector for the trigger. I love my 4th gen.

(TOO much information ?)

I've run the gamut with handguns from 1911s to single shot cannons to revolvers and finally back to semi-autos. I picked up a used Gen 3 22 about 5 years ago and found it to be ideal for me, so much so that I recently picked up another Gen 3 22 as a spare. I still have a fondness for Ruger Blackhawks, but Glocks really do rock!

Bought my first Glock, a Gen 3 G22, exactly once year ago. For some reason, it didn't like 180g factory loads, so I feed it a steady diet of 165g and it's happy. I've put over 7,000 rounds through it in the last year. I love shooting it. For all the negative opinions of the .40, I like it.

.40 S&W is a snappy round. Some will tell you Glocks soften it, but IMHO it is barely noticeable, to the point it may just be my affinity for Glocks.

You may consider trying another caliber. Have you tried .45? Technically more recoil, but less "snap". And a Gen 4 Glock 21 or 30 rocks!

ETA: you already have the 21SF - how do you like it?

My 3G is the go-to gun at the front of my under the bed safe. I currently shoot IDPA with it for increased proficiency. I'm lookin at a G34 for competitition but as I'm looking to 3 gun a G 35 might be the ticket. I don't like redundant guns in my holdings. I might have to move a few puzzle pieces around - or not. The 22 is a great HD / SD weapon

After 3 years, my Gen 4 has grown on me like mold. I wasnt a fan of the grip until I made it "custom".

What I did was place a strip of inner tube on the sides of the grip, then a whole inner tube piece around the intire thing.

So it's a G4 grip with an inner tube length wise, but fatter than just a single tube. It aint pretty, but making it fatter really works better for my hands.

I may be a fan of the G22. My duty issued Gen 2 has over 50k on it. I bought a Gen 4 for training, now tote a department issued Gen 4. And that Gen 2 came home with me and rests in a retirement case, until we go to Gun Range Bingo nights. :)

After shooting a few hundred rounds through my Gen 4 27, I decided to shoot my dad's Gen 3 22. The full grip definitely helped with the comfort, but other than that it shot well. No complaints.

A gen 4 G22 is my issued duty pistol. It's my first .40 S&W and I've had it since June of his year. I came to my current department from one that still carried 3rd Gen S&W's.

Although I find he recoil to be a bit sharp compared to my G19 or the steel .45's I've shot mostly, it's not bad. Overall the G22 is growing on me the more I shoot it. Function of course is boringly reliable.
