I saw it at the NRA show.

Now the bad news;
Les will be charging $500 over the cost of a 45 ACP for the new Super.:upeyes:

I dont understand what the additional cost would be needed for?
He machines most of his parts, so why would it cost any more to make a 38. Only thing I can see is, the slower production from his employees since they are used to the 45acp. I dunno just saying?

Not much I guess. But then you have to spend another $250 or so to make it work right.

He said that is was the "extra fit time of the Super barrel". That came straight from Les.

BTW the barrel is ramped.

I personally call "BS" to the matter.

That's weak, no way can there be that much more work involved to make 38 Supers and 9mms.

I have noticed that on his guns the .38s are always more, sometimes much more. You can see it on his pricing sheet on his site. I find it odd as well. Wilson I think is $100 more for the .38 over the 45s.

I dont like that mans business philosophy at all.

I wouldnt buy any sub 5" gun from him, so i guess it doesnt matter how much it is.....im sure plenty of suckers will though.

I agree with you on sub 5" guns. I am particular on anything commander or officer size. It just better be a shop who pays attention to detail.

I don't build 1911's, so I can't comment on whether the extra money for a .38 Super is justified. Maybe, or maybe not.

I will say that my .45 Stinger is the best compact 1911 I have ever used. I'm not sure where the hostility towards them comes from. Mine locks back when empty, releases when slingshot, is 100% reliable, and shoots as accurately as most of my full sized 1911's. Maybe I just got lucky, but mine is a fantastic pistol.

The hostility is just based on the reported issues with sub 5" Baer 1911s. It seems some have them some do not. Mine would not "slingshot" but was reliable. From what I understand his sub 5" guns are not made to the same spec as other makers's sub 5" guns. Somebody with more knowledge can explain it better than I can :wavey:

Interesting

I've never been a fan of Baer 1911s with barrels shorter than 5".
