View Full Version : Old Hornady manual almost got me in trouble
Started loading some 155 Hornady XTP with AA#7 I have an old hornady manual and it has a max load of 13.9 grns of AA#7 :wow: After reading on here and looking at the Accurate manual, I decided to rethink using this old hornady manual. I had some loaded to 13.5 and promptly pulled them and reloaded them with 12.5 grns.

It's always a good idea to get two or more reliable sources of published data, I prefer three, and try and make some common sense of what your reading.
It's been rumored the older Hornady manuals had some error regarding AA7 and 10mm. Typo's and mistakes made by mere mortals are common.
Hornady 4th 13.9 grains
Hornady 7th 15.1 grains
Accurate Arms 3.5 Edition, 12.7 grains for a 155 gr. HP @ 37,500 psi
Lyman 49th, 155 gr. Silvertip, 12.8 grains @ 29,800 CUP
No doubt that 15.1 grain load is a bit warm. BE CAREFUL AND DO YOUR OWN DUE DILIGENCE WHEN RELOADING ANYTHING!
ALWAYS START WITH A MINIMUM LOAD AND WORKUP
