View Full Version : Gen 4 17 first impressions

I hope this is the right place to post this but I just wanted to contribute to the wealth of knowledge on this forum by giving a brief overview of my experiences with the first 500 rounds through a Gen 4 Glock 17.
This is my first firearm purchase and before April it had been over 14 years since I had fired any firearm. Before I purchased the G17 I ran roughly 500 rounds through various other firearms including various 1911, gen 3 glocks, XDM, XD, SW MP and others. And at first I did not like the glocks and was heavily leaning towards the XDM. All the glocks I tried(all gen 3) just didn't sit right in my hand then I ran 100 rounds through a gen 4 g17 and was instantly sold it just felt right.

So after learning that glock stopped making OD glocks which is what I wanted I found STG Firearms in Arizona and even though it took a week longer than expected I was greeted with this gorgeous piece of equitment when I went to my local range to pick it up.

After filling out the forms and purchasing a 33 round mag and a membership to said local range I checked the gun for any excess grease or barrel blockages(no problems the guys at stg sent a range ready gun clean and lubricated) then I put 100 rounds of blazer 124 gr and 50 rounds of Speer lawman 115. With no problems at all. The next 150 rounds were a mix of winchester white box, blazer 115, and American eagle 115. Wasnt until round 299 ( a blazer 115) when it failed to eject the casing was back in the barrel with a small split down the casing starting at the top going down about a centimeter.

during the second trip to the range I noticed that depending on how tightly I was gripping the pistol the brass would eject differenty too tight and i got hit in the face any other grip and it went to the right.

The third trip was 50 rounds winchester white and 150 rounds of blazer (quick side track blazer 115 is selling for 9.99 here)
on round 499(again a blazer 115) had anouther failure to eject where the casing came out and back in to the barrel.

I must mention my first thoughts on the 33 round mag in a word Amazing. I couldnt believe how amazing the mag felt in the gun the added weight felt perfect anyone who owns a G17 needs a 33 round mag(sorry if you live in a state that dosnt allow it) it should come standard.
In the end I feel like this gun will be with me for the rest of my life and I will enjoy every day that I am able to take it shooting.
I just thought I would share my experience for anyone contimplating a gen 4 g17. I hope to keep this post updated each time I go to the range. Any questions comments or advice are appreciated especially comments on the 2 failure to eject.

Sweet OD....I have a gen 4 as well(no OD) and love it. I wasn't much of a 9mm guy until got one of these. Very easy to shoot accurately with no drama. Nice choice!

Hey nice G17:supergrin:

05-08-2012, 20:42
oops forgot to mention its cerakote very impressed with it too. Hard to tell its not just the color of the polymer

05-08-2012, 20:45
Congrats on the G17.

05-08-2012, 20:46
Congrats on the 17!

05-08-2012, 20:48

I was wondering that, it doesn't look FDE by the pic.

05-08-2012, 20:48
Looks good.

05-08-2012, 20:57
Looks good, Congrats!

Love mine too:

another 163 rounds down(no problems) getting ready for my first GSSF indoor league. 63 blazer 115, 50 blazer 124, 50 speer lawman 115. I couldnt see a difference in my groups but was trying to see if different ammo fired any more accurate than another. Shot a 465 during a practice run those 50 and 75 ft shots are killing me.

I don't know how good of a shot you are, but differences in ammo accuracy might not show up until you sit at a bench. Unless you are already shooting sub-3" groups at 25 yards off hand.

You might notice differences in point of aim first.

Very nice color - hopefully as you fire it more the few little issues will work themselves out.

05-15-2012, 10:14
deerslayer thanks for the advice. I was hoping the range would have a rest available as it has been before but it wasnt there on sat. I dont have 3in groups more like 5-6in at 25ft so I guess it doesn't matter what I use for now just need more practice. I was looking at 75 ft and 50 ft so maybe it was pointless but it forced me to concentrate on my form so no harm done.

Certainly no harm done at all :)

I like to buy ammo by the case. Have a bunch of guns that me and my wife shoot, and have settled on American Eagle 124gr FMJ to keep us all happy. For carry it is Speer Gold Dot 124gr HP. Occasionally also get a case of Speer Lawman 124gr FMJ. Through gun clubs, also tend to end up with an assortment of you name it brands in 115 gr, and some reloads from a friend.

I know every gun is different, but if I run all of that in my Glock 17 G4, while sitting at a bench, the group size doesn't go much over 3 inches at 25 yards. But the point of aim can move up or down. My best group sizes around 2". Maybe the gun can do better with other ammo, but that is really pushing my own limit with iron sights anyway.

If we calculate that at 25 feet, I'm guessing your gun will likely shoot 1" groups with typical factory ammo. But it will be well worth sitting down at a bench to verify that. Just pick your ammo of choice (based upon cost or availability) and some day when you get the chance, sit down and shoot a 5-shot group, put up a clean target and shoot another 5-shot group, and so on. I encourage this because it lets you know what you and your gun are capable of with a good rest, and your best slow accurate shots. 5 shots at a time is a lot if you are really going slow and concentrating. You'll appreciate a break of changing targets between each of those groups :)

Then when you stand up and blast away and see groups sizes open way up, you won't suddenly wonder if your gun and ammo are to blame :)

It seems you were already taking this approach I am talking about (they just didn't have the rest available). But it is amazing to me how many other guys never think of doing this. Guys who shoot shotgun sized groups and are trying to figure out what is wrong  The confidence and knowledge they could gain by some time spent at the bench would help them a lot.

Ya i wish 124gr was more available in my area as it seems to shoot very nice (softer feel) But only one place in my area carries it and at 14$ a box compared to the blazer 115 for 9.99 its hard to justify for practice use and If im going to practice with it I might as well compete with it. Thanks for the ramble some good points and advice.

05-15-2012, 15:11
Congrats on the G17! Nice report as well.

05-17-2012, 09:35
shot another 143 rounds yesterday 100 winchester white box and 43 blazer 115 no problems which brings the total to 806 with 2 FTE on rounds 299 and 499. Shot a 468 doing a practice GSSF indoor but kept all but one round in the rings where as the last one was 465 with 4 outside the rings so I am happy with that practice session major focus on locking arms and wrist with correct stance and focus on the front sight. Side note I got my GSSF member package in the mail payed 3rd recieved package on 15th.

05-20-2012, 21:00
144 more flawless rounds down range blazer 115. didn't shoot as well today with a 455 and a 446. Next sat will be the first real test time to see how i do under pressure.

05-24-2012, 08:44
Another 150(blazer 115gr) brings the total to 1100. 439,454,463. No issues

05-24-2012, 12:42
I just shoot my 17 why stop at 1 happy stick you need at least 3

05-24-2012, 12:58
because at 35-50$ a piece I think I will buy more slowly. Also the amount of ammo I go through with the happy stick makes my wallet scream. I only use the happy stick maybe 1 out of every 3 range trips when I throw up a zombie jimmy target. Lately I have been focusing on GSSF prep so 10 or 5 rds per mag. I will be buying more regular sized mags before another 33rd.

05-27-2012, 11:29
Another 163 yesterday 463 during practice and 459 during the first round of the GSSF indoor ran out of time with one shot during the 10rd 50ft or it would have been my best score yet. Another FTE during fun shoot with happy stick somewhere around 1210-1230.
I dont have any explanation for this one however I was firing faster than I normally would. Total is 1263 with 3 FTE 299,499,1210-1230.

05-27-2012, 12:12
I will be buying more regular sized mags before another 33rd.

you'll want four mags for GSSF.

06-04-2012, 11:15
Another 287 in two trips no problems. Shot a 455,445,473,463 during gssf practice. Either the large amount of live firing or dry firing has almost removed my flinching.

06-12-2012, 07:33
200 more over weekend no issues shot a 480,475,478 during practice. Bringing the total to 1750 with 3 FTE.

06-13-2012, 09:18
Had a very stressful day yesterday so I ended up back at the range. 200 more flawless rounds. Shot a 470 and a 484 during practice.

06-13-2012, 10:46
Hey G-Chem! If this is your new cerakoted pistol can you post images, please? Gosh, I'm beginning to sound like an OD/FDE/other than black picture stalker! ;)

Side note: what was your thoughts on going with 9mm vs other calibers? I'm shopping a new gun and all my pistols are 9mm. Heavily debating to change caliber or stay with 9.

06-13-2012, 11:17
I will try to post some more pictures tonight. I went with 9mm because it just made the most sense to me. I wanted a firearm that could be used for self defense if needed but mostly as a range / compition gun and it was my first firearm so I wanted something i knew i could handle well without breaking the bank with ammo cost.

06-13-2012, 12:01
Sorry, I'm sure you posted but did all 3 of your issues occur with the happy stick??? Is it a Glock factory mag or aftermarket? I'm up to around 1500 rounds through my G4 17 and it's batting a thousand.

06-13-2012, 13:00
Jimisland- its possible that they all happened with the happy stick which is glock factory but i can't be sure of the first two. They happened in the first 500 rounds and i just didn't make note of which mag it happened with. The last one was about half way through the happy stick with fast firing . All three were blazer 115 aluminum/steel casing.

10-4. reason I ask is I have a G26 as well and would average about 1 FTF per 300 rounds and my stock mags have run 100% w/ zero issues. I will use the 33 round mag for ammo "storage" but nothing else......I don't trust it. I'm sure there's plenty out there running good but mine's not one of them.

(I did try the happy stick in my G17 as well and had the same results.)

06-13-2012, 13:38
Ya its something that has crossed my mind and to be honest I have not been using the happy stick very much. It just makes me waste ammo. It is however alot of fun with a zombie jimmy target. I haven't even been filling my standard mags completely when practicing I do 5 round mags during warm up and then 10 and 5 during GSSF practice. I am hoping a friend of mine will take me to his family's land where I will most likely be filling all my mags to capacity after setting up some courses of Fire.

06-17-2012, 08:45
100 115gr cci blazer shot a 455 477. 50 124 gr cci blazer all using the 33rd happy stick. No problems
+150 6/23 463 during gssf match
2250 running total

07-15-2012, 10:47
back from two weeks away from the pistol +260 cci blazer 115 performed flawlessly one new mag and 33 rounds with the happy stick

07-24-2012, 14:32
140 more cci blazer 115 during thursday league and sat practice no issues.

07-28-2012, 22:46
200 cci blazer 115 during league, gssf match (465), and practice.

Just found this thread but awesome note taking and thanks so much for the review of your Glock!

07-29-2012, 00:28
Looks great, congrats!

07-30-2012, 14:33
hopefully I will be adding a g26 to this review as well I won the free glock during the raffle. GSSF didnt send a certificate this time but an actual gen 3 G17 which I can hopefully trade for a 26 or I will sell it and buy either a g26 or an AR15

07-30-2012, 15:02
Just saw this. Is your 17 an FDE? I am looking at one.

07-30-2012, 15:51
the one i am keeping is a cerakote od green the one i won is black

07-30-2012, 16:03
I like mine even better than my gen 3 17 rtf2(that I sold) but that was definetely a close second when it comes to the 17 family.

08-05-2012, 17:53
+200 blazer 115 bringing the total to 3050 with 3 FTE at 299,499,1210-1230 so at least 1820 rounds with no issues. The glock 26 is most likely not happening but I may begin the same with a Smith and Wesson M&P AR15 sport (please dont try to convince me this is a bad rifle, I understand what it is). It will be my introduction to the AR platform and I think I am going to make it a magpul range queen just because.

08-10-2012, 08:45
Picked up my Smith and Wesson Ar15 sport yesterday and put 70 rounds (40pmc bronze 55fmj ,30 federal 5.56)downrange. Very light and fun gun. Was able to keep 10 shots about the size of a quarter at 75ft with no support and very little prior experience with rifles (.22lr during boy scouts 15 yrs ago and 40 shots through a rental AR 2 months ago). Hoping to take it to an outdoor this weekend to try some longer distances. I will definitely be making some furniture changes in this order due to money and which pieces bothered me the most. I also need a sling any recommendations?
1. The bullet button has got to go. I already hate this thing I feel bad for Californians.
2. Magpul MOE foreguard the factory doesn’t have a heat shield and it didn’t take more than 20 shots to make it uncomfortable.
3. Magpul pistol grip not sure which yet leaning towards the MIAD. I was surprised to find that I think the pistol grip is too small.
4. Magpul MOE stock with bigger butt pad or try to find a butt pad for the factory stock not sure yet.
5. Maybe a Magpul AFG will evaluate the MOE forguard and then decide.

+47 rounds in the glock 17 final week of pistol league in the top 4 so competed head to head I ended up 4th. 75 ft clay pigeon targets . I am good up to 50 ft but 75 is still tough for me.

08-10-2012, 11:36
Good Deal, That S&W is a pretty cool little toy too, I have the M&P15 MOE and I absolutely love it.

08-16-2012, 12:19
Finally got around to posting a pic. Already ordered some parts and she is currently at the gunsmiths getting the bullet button removed( Smith and Wesson used alot of loctite or I would have done it myself) . Will add updated pic and more range reports as I can. They are already the best of friends.

08-21-2012, 14:42
+150 in the glock blazer 115 no issues.

09-01-2012, 22:01
took two friends to the range. One has never shot a gun before. +217cci blazer in the glock 17 no issues. Finally got my Ar15 back from gunsmith and boy is that thing a blast to shoot. + 97 rounds pmc bronze 55fmj. I absolutely love the magpul MIAD pistol grip with the largest grip(feels like my glock). Still waiting on the magpul fore guard I ordered seemed to be back ordered everywhere.

09-02-2012, 08:10
Congrats, after having issues with 2 gen 4 19's I was almost done with the gen 4 9mm's. I bought a gen 4 17 this weekend and it has had zero problems so far. Keeping my fingers crossed, this is going to be my uspsa gun.

09-02-2012, 10:48
You're right about the 33 round mag!

09-20-2012, 21:28
Finally received the Magpul MOE hand guard in and it is a huge upgrade from the stock plastic round hand guard the sport comes with. Getting that thumb straight across the top edge is so much easier than with the round hand guard and my hand does not get uncomfortable from the heat after 5 shots with the added heat shield. Great part for the price and still keeps the gun light. Now I just need a sling.
+120 PMC bronze 55gr in the AR and +274 CCI blazer 115gr in the glock 17
over 2 practice days and 2 league nights. Hoping to get out to the outdoor range this weekend to see how I do with the AR at 50-100yrds.

09-30-2012, 18:36
Finally made it out to the outdoor range . I had alot of fun its a whole different experience. I didnt think I would have as much fun as I did just bench shooting. Using just a beanbag i was shooting printer paper sized groups at 100yrds and quarter sized groups at 50 yrds. So l still have alot to improve on but i was happy with it for a first time. As well made it twice to the indoor and league.
+252 cci blazer 115gr bringing the total to a nice round 4000 through the glock.
And +120 pmc bronze 55gr through the AR.

Great report. I have two G17 gen 4's between the 2 of them I'm at 4000 rounds and neither have had a single hic-up

I really like 'em. They are my go to guns!

10-01-2012, 13:04
Very nice! I always felt the same way about glocks, Then I tried the new G34 gen 4 for USPSA. I agree, the new Gen4's grip is just perfect!

I have decided to sell my Taurus 24/7 Pro and get a G17 Gen 4:supergrin:.

10-15-2012, 15:02
Made it out to the outdoor range again to work on standing 75yrd shots with the AR. I still have alot of work to do with the AR with iron sights. They also had a pistol tree set up with four targets that switch from side to side when shooting them. Again a whole new experience having targets react to getting hit. Sooo very satisfying hearing the ping and watching the plate move went through 100 rounds way too fast.
+70 cci blazer 55gr .223
+155 115gr 9mm 100 remington 20$ walmart box 50 cci blazer and 5 cci blazer brass
48 of the blazer were from pistol league. 2 weeks in a row being top shooter in the centerfire league. Very happy as one of the nights was charging/retreating where the target is moving away for 6 shots then towards for 6 shots huge improvement over my first league. First time I shot this I did very poor as I focused on the target and not my front sight much better this time kept all but 3 shots in the 10 and 8 ring.

10-25-2012, 14:34
+195 45cci blazer brass 150 cci blazer. practice and league

10-26-2012, 06:55
Did you stick with Magpul Black Furniture on the M&P or did you go with another color?

11-01-2012, 08:27
+68 cci blazer in league and the first month of gssf. 3rd place right now and today is the shoot out for top 3. Shot a 386 in the gssf league sitting 4th.
Sooner i went with od green will post a pic when I remember.

+134 cci blazer in glock
rented some guns for fun so my running total shots fired will no longer be in increments of fifty.
Did not like the baretta nano for many reasons, S&W shield was ok , I keep going back to the glock 26.

I love my Glocks, and my 17 for sure! I carry my 26 daily, it's a great cc gun. And it shoots so good, as well as accepting all the mags from my other 9mm Glocks. Great weapons, I enjoyed the thread reading up on your shooting.

Nice OD G17!

+250 cci blazer in the glock over two visits. Glock shoot next week. Having trouble breaking 380 in practice. I still cant believe I shot a 386 last month since I rushed the whole thing. Usually shoot a 365-375 during practice. Its the 25 yard 10 rounds that get me I usually put 2-4 shots in the 5 point outside area which kills my score. No matter how much I practice the 25 yard shots I am always inconsistent. Any training suggestions for those long shots?

11-24-2012, 17:34
Another 200 115gr FMJ CCI Blazer down the pipe. Practice and GSSF Indoor(shot a 376). Focused most of my practice on the 25yrd shots and can consistently group the size of a paper plate but always have at least a few that jump outside the 8 ring during GSSF comp and practice. Starting to think I may need some professional help to diagnose and fix my 25yrd problems. I might by squeezing my right hand when I pull the trigger but I have attempted to alter my grip with no change in grouping.

12-04-2012, 13:19
+150 cci blazer during holster practice. I rented some 45 auto pistols while at the range and found that my double taps from my pistol from the holster were more accurate than my standing carefully aimed shots with the 4 rented pistols. I found that interesting and entertaining.

02-22-2013, 20:20
+ 200 on 2/8/13 50 cci blazer, 150 independence 115 fmj no problems.
Huge break in training/competing due to a totaled car caused by ice on the way to go snowboarding. No injuries but couldn't get to the range.

03-22-2013, 09:29
+450 9mm independence fmj 115 over two range visits and a ccw class.
+20 .223 in the AR

Hard to find ammo now but Ive had good luck finding 500 rounds twice using the following links

03-22-2013, 12:40
I recently did a major quiver realignment... I now have a Gen4 17 and 35. The 17 had been absolutely flawless. I had to warranty replace the RSA in the 35, but it is running equally flawless now.

My plan is to use the 17 for IDPA matches and the 35 for limited IPSC and steel.

I've been running FA 115gr reman through the 17 and some random Winchester White Box and Federal that I had laying around without any issues. 165gr and 180gr FA reman through the 35.

The range I frequent regularly has a steel and/or IPSC pistol course setup. Now that I have two similar guns in two different calibers, the big difference that I've noticed between 17 and 35 on the IPSC course is that my hit pairs are noticeably tighter with the 17.

I no longer have my gen3 35 to compare side by side with the gen4 35, but I can't say I perceive any difference in felt recoil (which isn't a big deal since the 35 is a pretty easy shooting .40).

I never quite warmed to the fit and feel of the gen3 grip (like, not love). I'll be curious to see how I like the gen4 grip in the heat of the summer, but so far the gen4 grip is a perfect fit and feel for me (love).

04-17-2013, 17:24
+350 in the glock 300 WWB and 50 independence over two range visits and 2 weeks of league.
+8 Remington golden Sabre 147 JHP to test function.

04-17-2013, 18:23
Congrats! My Gen 4 G17 w/night sights is one of my favorite Glocks. Gen 4 G22 w/night sights shows up next week.

+150 WWB range session.
Will post pictures soon to detail the wear on the cerakote finish. Also will be reviewing the Hidden Hybrid Holster.

05-24-2013, 13:45
Have not gotten around to reviewing the holster or taking pictures of the cerakote wear due to being very busy but have made it to the range and league.
+500 rounds over 3 range trips and 3 weeks or league. 150 independence 115gr, 100 blazer brass 115 gr. 50 American eagle 147gr flat point, 100 American eagle 124gr. 100 local gunshop reloads 115gr.
Hopefully I will have time this weekend to type up a review of the holster and take pictures of the cerakote finish. I have the 2nd match of 3 for GSSF indoor tomorrow and if all goes well next sunday will be my first uspsa match.

08-07-2013, 19:59
I have not had the time or energy the last two months to do this properly so I will be quick and to the point for the foreseeable future.

Hidden hybrid holsters Full Size IWB/OWB Hybrid Holster
Great inside the waistband Holster can conceal a Glock 17 with t-shirt and shorts while still being very comfortable. Not quite as good for outside the waistband carry as inside but works well. I've used it for 3 local uspsa matches and has so far been fully up to the job. I need to try other holsters to make a better comparison.

Blackhawk magazine carriers
Plastic single mag carriers = Fat, not concealable, totally cost effective and quick solution for uspsa.
Leather single mag carrier= Terrible always comes off belt with mag.
Comp-tac Kydex Reinforced Contour Belts= awsome exactly what you would expect. I can say I will never go back to regular leather belts( last two belts Ive owned lasted 5 years each thick leather from brighton belts usually 60$ but eventualy lost all rigidity) because having a reinforced belt is a whole new experience in a very good way.

Cerakote on glock lower portion= Pretty but has worn significantly over one year. Thankfully the good folks at STG firearms has offered to recerakote it whenever I want with the same or different color as long as I ship it to them. I still feel it was worth the 50$ it cost because it still looks good and with the wear it has character.
+885 rounds in the glock the last 2 months mixed bag ammo.
+35 223 in the AR
finally broke 490 with a 492(no 5's) at the last GSSF indoor match. this was quite a milestone for me. I started last may with a consistant 460 shooter and until this last match was a consistant 485 for the last 4 months never broke 490 even in practice.

Recently when tapping magazine into frame my slide would shoot forward without me touching the slide stop lever. As it turns out when you have the bad habit of using the slide stop lever as a slide release during reloads it causes wear to the slide stop. Replacing the slide stop asap (9$).

Also just received the Phlster skeleton holster I ordered for my Glock 26 which should be on its way from GSSF soon. Wore it around the house yesterday with the G17. So far I like it and I think it will be perfect for the 26. I think the 17 is a little heavy for such a minimal holster. I might even give it a try at my action league tonight (concealed carry scenario). Will update after.

This is normal and means you're seating the mag too hard. Using the slide stop/release such as this does not cause undo wear as many Chicken Littles think. Quit worrying & just shoot the gun.

I have not changed how I seat the Mag and it did not start doing this until 100 rounds ago. I have looked at the part in question and it is obviously worn down. I will post a picture when I can. It was not normal for the first 8000+ rounds. I dont like it so I am fixing it.

Also I disagree with the statement "seating the mag too hard" unless its going through the top of the gun I don't think this is possible. Hasn't happened with my glock but definitely had times with my AR when I didn't seat the magazine hard enough.

I don't believe you could reasonably seat the magazine "too hard", and would rather err on the side of overkill than have a mag fall out. I disagree that using the slide release is a "bad habit". (Just my opinion of course)

My first Glock was a police buy back G21. About half the time the slide would auto release when I seated the mag. Not having worked on guns much I didn't realize why until I put a new extended slide stop on it and that issue went away. No idea how many .45 rounds that 21 has through it. I too purchased a Gen 4 17 and like it, but the 21 is a better shooter overall.

I only say its a bad habit because there is a very small chance that using the slide lock as a release could cause the pistol to not fully seat the next round and not fire. Every instructor I have talked to about this and read about recommends racking the slide on a new magazine to insure the weapon goes into battery. When I started I used the slide lock constantly because I was entertained by the action of the slide going into battery just by depressing a lever. Then it ended up in my muscle memory and I started doing it all the time during uspsa (I had not learned to count rounds and do reloads with a round in the chamber yet). Now I worry about getting a ftf just because I used the slide lock and didnt rack the slide during a match.

Phlster holster worked great. But had another issue I believe was caused by the worn out slide lock. The scenario required that we not reload until the magazine was empty and slide locked back. Correct me if I am wrong but on a glock the follower of the magazine pushes up on the slide lock to lock the slide back. I was counting my shots and dropped the magazine when I was out of rounds but when I looked the slide wasn't locked back so I picked up the magazine and put it back only to realize on my next shot that it was empty. This was by far the most frustrating thing I have had happen during a competition and will cost me any chance I had at first place. I cant wait for my new slide lock.

Here is a picture of the offending slide lock. Already recieved replacement.

I fixed the slide issue should have updated this earlier. Turns out it was mostly dirty magazine followers causing the slide not to lock back but the worn slide lock causing the slide to go forward while seating a new mag. Cleaned the mags and replaced slide lock and problems fixed. Next I will be replacing the recoil spring should have done this sooner.
‘No matter what a manufacturer tells you never go more than 5000 rds before replacing the recoil spring in your pistol – and in most cases much less. This is one of the often overlooked reasons for malfunctions and part failure in a handgun; particularly in unit or department issued weapons’
