I'm in the market for a SP2022, and I am pondering on what caliber to get. If I go with the 9mm, can I later get a conversion barrel for the .357SIG and or .40sw? Or does the .357SIG conversion barrel only work in the .40sw version? I might have to buy both!

Also, I really want the German made version as oppose to the one manufactured in the US. Any tips on where I can purchase one new?

Thanks!

IIRC the 40/.357 swap is a "gimmie" and I think the 9mm can go on a .40/.357 but as I recall there is some problem with the ejector it you try to pu the .40 based rounds on the 9mm frame. My 2340 (.40) top and 2022 frame will swap but I can't say about new 2022s. If you find any triple serial # Germans, I'd like a couple more myself

If I wanted to buy a SIG Sauer, I would go with a P226/8/9.
At least with the P226/8/9 you find easily magazines and barrels.
While I am not sure if anyone make a reduction barrel for SIG Sauer (from 40/357 to 9mm), but there are plenty of options between 40 and 357.

The 2022 has a wide grip and I found no advantage in this gun over the P226 or P229.
Matter a fact, I prefer those hands down over the 2022.

Funny thing about personal preferences. I didn't buy a 2022 to make a Leggo kit out of it and it caused me to do something I rarely do, I got rid of the gun it replaced. I sent a much lauded Sig 228 down the road with someone who wanted it, by reputation, more than I did after carrying and shooting both.

I kept the gun that was more accurate and comfortable in my hands.

For more detailed info on this subject, go to sigforum.com I do not believe the 9mm Pro can be converted to shoot the 357sig or 40. The 40 can be converted to shoot the 357Sig and vice versa. Barrels can be bought on the Sigarms website or through BarSto.
These guns can be had new for around $400.00 if you look hard enough. They are on Gunsamerica all the time. The trigger on these guns are as good as their "brothers"
If you come across some used 2340's, they will also come with two grip sizes.
