Let's see, 3 single actions with basically the same grip frame, 2 double action revolvers built on the same frame just in different calibers, yah that's a winning list:upeyes:

Yeah, I'm not sure who came up with it, but its certainly redundant.

While both are legendary revolvers, having both the 27 and 29 on the list makes no sense at all.

Quite true, but, if you have fired one, firing the other is not exactly a "novel" experience.

What???? No PPQ listed? How dare anyone make a list without mentioning the PPQ? Alright PPQ fanboys, I mentioned the PPQ in the thread so now y'all can hijack some other thread.
Back to the original topic. How in the hell is anyone supposed to have access to or shoot a Walker? I know they exist, but more likely to see a unicorn before being able to shoot the Walker. Need to make a list that is a stretch goal- but at least attainable.

Well, its the first double stack much like the G17 was the first polymer. Not the absolute first, but the first truly successful model and the first true high capacity pistol.

I did misword that a bit, but the HP is certainly an iconic pistol. Its my favorite 9mm, actually.

I see at least two different ways this could be evaluated, one would be just "for the "special" experience, and one for the "practical" experience.

Since the original list seems to be the "Special" type, i will try to drum up 8 of my own.

Colt SAA

Colt Python

S&W 29

1911

Luger

Glock

S&W 36

Beretta 92

It was a toss up on a couple, for instance a K-22 vs a 36 and there was no place left to put a Sig 210 or S&W 41.

Only about 1/2 of those would be on the "practical" list.

The "Favorite" 9mm race is really tight for me. the HP has been it for years but the CZ 75 Compact is coming on strong and I find myself with the Sig 2022 more often than the HP. However, I have a custom HP project in the offing that may bring the HP back to the top.

BTW the Savage pocket auto held 12, whats your definition of "high capacity? (sorry that was added in "edit" mode, I can't figure out how to add a smiley face)

I agree. While there isn't a gun on the list that is a stupid idea, it is very redundant.

Ditch the Walker, Model 27, Browning Hi-Power, and Blackhawk. Add an HK P-7, a Beretta 92, a Desert Eagle, and a Colt Woodsman. That still ignores a lot of excellent handguns, but it has a lot more variety.

I wouldn't argue with the original list, other than to say it's a bit redundant. Personally I wouldn't walk outside to shoot a Walker though. I've shot a black powder revolver, and it's a lot like work. I'm too lazy for that.

Maybe replace that with a Luger.

I've got a 27 and a 29. Can't tell 'em apart with my eyes closed.

I might swap one of those for a P-38.

Colt SAA, and the Blackhawk are pretty close, too. At least they're both SA revolvers.

Yea, I know, it's another S&W, but I'd replace the Blackhawk with a K-22. Everybody should shoot a GOOD 22 revolver. One of the classic Colts would be good too, but I've got experience with S&W, so I pick it.

Ok...I guess I could argue with it. :whistling:

Now that I think about it. I could stick a Ruger Mark something, 22 on that list somewhere. Those little guns are just amazing. They're the standard against which all other 22 semi-auto's are measured, IMHO.

Me too. I mean I have shot all of them except for #2.

I would replace the S&W Model 27 with a Colt Python since the M27 and M29 are virtually identical (except for the caliber). I also think a Luger and a Ruger Mark II should be somewhere on that list.

My top list (not in any particular order):

Colt 1911 (a high end custom)
Colt SAA
Glock G18 (might as well have fun).

2. Ball and cap revolver. I like the Remington 1858 clones on 44.
3. 1911

5. Desert Eagle, I found the 44 to be nice and the 50 not fun.
6. Derringer
7. S&W K-22, When you miss the very small target you know it is your fault.
8. Scoped Ruger MKII or Browning or S&W or other precision target 22LR. When you master the K-22, this steps it up a notch.

My list is based on picking classic firearms that are EACH an experience different from any other.

1. Mauser 1896 Broomhandle
2. P08 Luger
3. Colt SAA
4. Colt Python
5. 1911 Govt.
6. Glock 17
7. Walther PPk
8. S&W Model 29

The only two that are remotely similar are the Python and Smith M29. If I had to add a #9, it would be a high-quality .22 target pistol like the High Standard Citation.

I like your list. It would be a lot easier if we allowed at least 10.
